iraq today
i saw the movie
Lions for lambs
or was it lambs for lions?
hmm anyway
with robert redford
merryl streep
tom cruise
the movie itself was a tad slow
but the message was still powerful
brave soldiers giving up their lives
as politicians who don't know what the fuck they are doing
make their battle plans
the press who didn't have the balls to denounce the war
because the press became more business and less news
that has in previous years
just going along with the pressure
robert redford plays a college professor trying to turn around a student who is wasting his potential
into someone who tries to do something
some litlte thing to change the world
merryl streep plays the reporter who is torn between her conscience and her job
tom cruise plays the politician who needs to make a win
out of the iraq loss
and is clearly got presidential ambitions
immediately putting all the blame on
"worst intel in our history"
it was
sad
infuriating
sometimes sleazy
with two brave young men
caught in the cross fire
like i said the movie was a bit slow
but the message was still there
the lions are being led by the lambs
so here we are today
we are still at war
we still do not have a win
the war has now lasted longer then world war 2
and dragging on this long
with no end
no win
is a loss
hind sight is of course 20/20
and were we to go back in time
i think most would vote not to invade iraq
or certainly to do so quite differently
so what now
what now in aphganistan
what now in iraq
how do we pull out
when
what would a win look like
how will we recognize when its time to go
i used to spend a lot of time on this site bashing
george bush junior
not fond of senior either
but lately
it just seems like a waste of hot air
the country was duped into voting him in twice
if he did win
better to spend my hot air
trying to fuel something better for us all
then wasting it on something clearly
toxic
i hear the call to pull the troops out
but think leaving iraq vulnerable and open
now would be like a waste of all the lives lost
but how do we get there
and are we learning our lessons

saddam
It’s hard to rejoice over a public execution
But I’m glad the victims of Saddam and those who died taking him out of power have had the chance to feel some justice
I always thought it was one of the greatest travesties of world war 2 that the victims of Hitler never got to see him executed.
The coward took his own life…or so they say. That’s how I always thought of Hitler anyway, as a coward hiding behind his power and army. Once stripped of those things, he was a just a little evil man with a big fucking mouth.
I had some hope that the death of saddam might bring
A calm to the land but with the Shiites celebrating and the Sunnis screaming for revenge it doesn’t look likely.
With all the enemies the Moslem jihadist's have announced these last few years it’s hard for me to understand the hatred dealt out amongst their own.
can anyone explain this to me..
Saddam’s execution comes on the tail end of the year’s bloodiest month with 108 U.S. troops dead and with new year’s upon us, the timing of it seemed sadly poetic.
As to Saddam, I’m glad he was executed. The idea of him spending his life in prison, was a kindness far to great to bestow on a mass murderer who would never have considered for a second being so kind to those he killed.
As to his pretense in his end of being some sort of religions martyr, that’s quite a laugh. Saddam was not a religious man. He was hedonist a dictator, he only cared about religion for how it served him, not the other way around. Even if there was such a thing as martyrs going to heaven, he wouldn’t be going there and anyone who thinks he is, need’s to go back to Islam school and start over.
Listen this is a down post for my last of the year
So let me just say this
For new years let’s all pray together in however we pray and if we don’t pray, let’s just ask our higher power or the power within us or nature or our mother, or our heart to help this world.
We need kindness
We need peace
We need a soothing wave of goodness
And we need it now
I wish you all a loving new year

sleeper cell
well i sat back and watched the entire season of sleeper cell
in one night on showtime on demand last night
sheeesh
talk about an all nighter
that show is incredibly well written
and what i like most about it
is that rather then just having the terrorists
as dark enemies
it humanizes them
and shows us a rich variety of people who have
come together to become martyrs and why
the closested gay moslem with enormous rage
is one of the most interesting and complex characters
the disturbed man who watched his entire moslem family killed
in sarajevo is another great torn character
and the main character darwin; an African american
who loses his relationship with his father for joining the white man FBI
and must fight against his moslem brothers who choose Jihad over peace
and ulitmately drags his innocent white non moslem civilian still married girlfriend into the mix therebye violating rules from his father, his faith and his profession
to follow his heart, well dang!
darwin is just agony and bravery in motion
plus he's cute that helps too
it was scary
rich
and brilliant
know thy enemy
yes
its better to get into the mind of the terrorist; the sleeper cell
then to denounce them all as radical arabs
you can not fight what you dont know
personally i think
putting the focus into education of them and us
is this way to go
feed them, clothe them
and educate them
show them the world
not their little snippet
when you dont have food
when you are sick
and starving
and have no self esteem left to nourish your soul or your family with
fundamentlists have already won the battle yet to be fought
i can only thank the higher power
that the moslems fundamentalists have not focused on africa
where AIDS is destroying nation after nation
surely there would be many a recruit happy to jump on board
in exchange for helping their family
perhaps AIDS is too evil a disease for the god-fearing terrorist
i don't know
George Bush did not have the answer to terrorism
he only offered more fuel
i can only hope and pray
that our next world leader is wiser
and is more willing to learn
then teach

DEMS at plate
i watched saturday night live last night
what a blast
cameos by tony bennett and paul mccartney on top of the list
there was some really funny commentary on the news spoof
my fave
was in an ironic twist of fate
Iraq has caused a regime change in america
funny but true
well im thrilled as hell to have dems in majority of senate and house
first time in years im feeling hopeful about this country
well first time since the last election anyway
but of course now comes the big
kazillion dollar
question
now what?
we cant just high-tale out of this mess the bushies got us into
we have to leave iraq and yes aphganistan
in some sort of order
or else all those billions of dollars and thousands of lives
were a waste
so no, im not saying hurray the dems are in
lets pull everybody out of iraq
but im hopeful
oh how good it feels to be hopeful
now DEMS
you got your chance
the stage is yours
i know you've been given the worlds hugest
mess to clean up
but try, try, try and don't give up
the country has voted NO to the BUSH agenda
and YES to a change
so bring on the change
bring it on baby
Wednesday, November 1
bush smush
ah the great bush net
say one wrong word about the war in iraq
and you're anti american
question the troops being there
and you're an insult to our fallen brothers
yeah ive had just about enough of this shit
ya know what the little prick
sent our boys and girls over there
with no friggen exit plan
except an "our dick is bigger then yours
so we will squash you " plan
and the biggest weapon of mass destruction
was him
bush is the weapon of mass destruction
lies, death and dept
thats all i see
but ya know what
heres the thing
now we're there
now we spent millions and billions of our hard earned tax dollars
now we're in dept up to the wazoo
now thousands have died
now a country is in rubble
now we gotta somehow turn this sucker around
so we can at least
walk away from this
feeling like the world is a little bit better from our all that blood
not a whole lot worse
i sure would have preferred john kerry to
the baby bush
even though im not in love with the guy
i think the world would be a whole lot better place today if he'd been elected
but what i would really like to see right now
are some dems step up to the plate
now that this country seems to be finally wising up
to the need for a real big ass change
and id like to see those dems
talk about real ideas
for real success over there if its possible
or at least some kind of salvaging
or did we just kill all these people
spend all this money
watch our boys and girls get shot
to leave a new terrorist nation ripe for the picking
and a whole lotta new enemies ready to 86 us
im pissed
i think this whole damn war was a big waste of time money and life
but now its too late
we did it
so lets fix it
id like to hear more how to do its
and less
we shouldnt have done its
ya know what i mean
come on dems
speak out
loud and proud
the world is ready to listen
yell out
clear plans of action
this country is sickened by the bush machine
time for a new way of thinking
no more pussy footing around
Monday, July 25
far out fonda
oh say what you will about jane fonda
i just like the woman
now after taking a whole lotta shit for decades
about her anti-war effort in vietnam
shes gonna take off cross country
in an anti-war in Iraq bus powered by vegetable oil
yep vegetable oil
She expects to take off on the
vege bus in march
and you just gotta admire the ladies balls
i mean you really do
Fonda after being scared silent since the backlash of her anti-vietnam efforts
thinks of her speaking out against a war in Iraq
as her coming out
and i can certainly see why
so listen i know
shes controversial
and maybe her day in the sun
set when dinosaurs roamed the earth
but i just like the lady
shes honest
gutsy
says what she feels
and anybody who will get in a vegetable oil bus
in an effort to end war in iraq
at least deserves a little respect
if for no other reason then to say
thats chutzpah
okay?

Big Ball of Bull
the Bush mantra
That we need to fight in Iraq to prevent terror elsewhere
Does seem kinda like ummm NOT
After the London bombings
Hey Georgie
Its sure is working
Shoot them bastards in Iraq
And keep em off us and our allies worldwide
Yep
Works great
Just like the Bush mantra about a lot of other things
That seem to turn and spin as he digs himself deeper into his own bullshit
What id like to know is
Why not spend some of those billions of bucks spent in Iraq
Where there were NO weapons of mass destruction
Into actually
Ummm
Fighting Al Qaeda
And oh yeah remember osama ben laden
Remember him
Yeah those guys
But back to Iraq
Just what is the point here
The reason to go to war turned out to be a boldface lie
The promised two week war by Rumsfeld
May now according to bush turn out to be a 12-year war
Billions of bucks down and growing
And the people of Iraq?
Do ya think they’re happy to see us there?
Is it really getting any better?
Or are our soldiers getting blown up every day?
Sadly at this point, we have to finish something of what we started
Or we pull out leaving the country is such a shambles that it will be ripe for Taliban in Afghanistan part two
But lets just start talking the plain truth here
The FOLKSY Christian truth
Our reasons for going were bullshit
There was no proper planning
No exit strategy
And now are running ourselves broke
And wearing out our military
And may very well wind up
Bringing back the draft to clean up this shit
For what
A little less cowboy
And a lot more intellect would have
Put us in a place right now
Where we really were
Fighting the war on terror
And not just handing terrorists around the globe
A whole lot more volunteers and a whole lot more reasons to
Kill innocents
The London bombings do not strengthen the Bush
Case in Iraq
They weaken it
And quite honestly
I am sick and tired of this president
Harnessing the tragedy of “911”
And every other terrorist attack to snow us all for his own very personal agenda
Thousands of people have died for his agenda
And a little honesty
A little integrity right about now
Might be the least
This little imp
Could do
Sunday, July 3
Anthem
sung to the tune of our national anthem
ohhh sayyyy can you seeeeeeeeeeee
an end to war in Iraq in sightttttttt
what so proudly we bragged
would end in one night
and the rockets shock and awe
the bombs bursting allure
gave truth to blind eyes
the weapons of mass destruction were all lies
oh say george bush your planning is as badddddddddd
as vietnam part two
or Enron retirement fundsssssssssss

Memorial Iraq
La C asked me over memorial day
why so many more businesses were closed this memorial day
then in previous years she'd recalled..
and after thinking about it for a bit
i thought..
maybe its because this memorial day, we've got dead soldiers
and we really hadn't had wartime death in quite awhile..
When young men and women start to die
Memorial day takes on it's true meaning
MEMORIAL
i watched the Showtime documentary that aired this past week on Iraq..
it was quite a bit different then I'd expected..and really did manage to show all sides of the conflict
the camera crew followed a young man returning to Iraq to find the family he'd left 13 years ago when Saddam Hussein's army had tortured him and left him for dead after he took part in a failed uprising against Hussein
he'd been rescued by american soldiers and taken to america
where hed married and lived for 13 years and stayed away from his family
so as not to risk their lives
saddam was famous for murdering the families of his uprisers and then sending the photos of their dead bodies to the rebellious one
certainly this young man was pro-american
the documentary also showed religious islamists who were devoutly anti-American and even chanted that America was the enemy and one man who wanted to slaughter americans like sheep
it showed children digging through uranium laden metal in search of salvage
a doctor verifying that cancer was eminant
soldiers who wanted to go home
soldiers who seemed hardened
soldiers who seemed softened
all in all
i think
the general impression i got was that
while many if not most of the people of Iraq
interviewed had been anti-Saddam Hussein
many if not most of the people interviewed were also
anti being occupied by America
they felt humiliated
and shamed by the occupation
i guess its a funny thing
but a lot of people here
think that just because we liberated them
just because they hated Hussein
that they would also want us there
not true
when a group of men were asked
how many would choose american style liberty
and how many would choose an Islamic run country
all hands rose for the latter..
the female journalist interviewed had perhaps the most
important message
which was that if Iraq was our friend
we must know our friend
and if they were our enemy
we must also know our enemy
clearly we do not understand these people
and trying to stream roll them into our way of thinking is useless
the only way to truly liberate Iraq is
to find a way to do it their way
which ultimately means
to butt out
as much as humanly possible
not an easy task when the war has left the country in such a shambles
that any powerful military force could easily step in
and turn it into another dictatorship
what to do with this mess
what to do
one soldier compared it to vietnam
his reasoning
that you don't know your enemy
the same person who waves and smiles in the daytime
comes back to blow you up at night
feeling that way about every person who walks past you
its no wonder
we aren't getting any closer to healing wounds over there
nobody trusts anybody
nobody understands anybody
and the blood keeps spilling

Lies, Lies and more Lies
i think my two favorite current event writers these days
are Greg Palast and Arianna Huffington
also adore Ariannas new site
The Huffington Post
which you can check out on my linkie love list
anyway
both folks get me to thinking
or often get
me to freaking
out
about this country and this world
so hey
i dont read either on an empty stomach
anyway
Arianna today
talked about the New York Times cover story
in which some of this countries military leaders in Iraq
have some things to say
that the Bushies would not love at all
she could not understand why this story was not picked up by everyone
but then we all know
that this countries press
seems to be
well rather careful
about what they say against the war in iraq
or the bushies
which pretty much is the same thing isnt it
In the Times piece...five high ranking officers have things to say that greatly differ from the main stream info the busies want us to have
including one officer who says that our military involvement could last
MANY YEARS.
From Arianna and the Times Piece
I will quote below...
***
So, what does it all mean? Here’s the money quote from one of the high-ranking officers:
"I think that this could still fail."
You know the situation has to be really bad when military leaders feel the need to turn to the New York Times. It’s irrefutable evidence that the political leadership of both parties has completely failed the military men who have been charged with extricating us from this debacle. When you’re not being heard by the administration -- and when the loyal opposition is turning a blind eye to the most critical issue of our time -- then you leak to the press in a desperate effort to be heard.
***
Thanks Arianna and Thanks New York Times
and thanks to the brave leaders who spoke out...
So here's the question
why aren't people taking to the streets screaming?
Im as puzzled as I was when nobody took to the streets screaming when it came out the Bush administration had lied about the weapons of mass destruction..
whats going on in this country
that people aren't screaming mad
that their own administration
is outright lieing to them
about a war
we've paying billions of dollars
and thousands of lives to be in?!
Okay
so the right wingers wont speak out against Bush
and the Republicans wont speak out against Bush
but what about the rest of America
there is a rest of America right?
I think I will just leave you with Ariannas final quote
below
and let you think about it
as I will
***
Clearly Newsweek is not the problem here. The problem is a war not only founded on lies but conducted on lies. And our military leaders are finally speaking out. What happens next will depend on whether we listen. They deserve a better hearing than they’re getting.

the smoking gun
Was just reading Greg Palast’s latest piece
And man is it red hot..
Greg is just completely baffled as to why this country is not asking for the impeachment of GWBUSH after the “Smoking Gun” memo
That was unveiled this week by the Times
The London times that is…
The memo marked “Secret and Strictly Personal” Following a closed meeting with the president…
And was dated 8 months ago …before bush dragged us to Iraq
The memo reads..
“"Military action was now seen as inevitable. Bush wanted to remove Saddam through military action justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."
Yep
That’s worth saying again
"The intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."
I’ll quote from Palast’s piece below…
**
The memo goes on to describe an elaborate plan by George Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair to hoodwink the planet into supporting an attack on Iraq knowing full well the evidence for war was a phony.
A month ago, the Silberman-Robb Commission issued its report on WMD intelligence before the war, dismissing claims that Bush fixed the facts with this snooty, condescending conclusion written directly to the President, "After a thorough review, the Commission found no indication that the Intelligence Community distorted the evidence regarding Iraq's weapons."
We now know the report was a bogus 618 pages of thick whitewash aimed to let Bush off the hook for his murderous mendacity.
**
Thanks Greg.
Now the, Honey if this is not scary shit I don’t know what is.
Why did the country scream to Impeach Clinton when he lied about where he put his pecker..but there are no millions on the streets screaming for the impeachment of G W Bush now that its been proven full on that he lied about the reasons to go to war and this has cost thousands of lives?!
Why isn’t this memo on the cover of every American Newspaper right now??
Why aren’t folks freaking out in outrage?!
Why…well its because in today’s right wing, conservative, evangelical, climate…folks are just plain out scared to trash George Bush…
The man can pretty much get away with murder and we just wont
raise a peep.
And yeh I can already hear your gnashing your teeth and blowing smoke ready to let loose with a barrage of your nasty comments…
But really, this just can’t be all right with you?
Can it??!!
Being tricked by the president, lied to, having the facts altered even in an investigation about having the facts altered
This has gotta bug you
Doesn’t It??
IN Closing Palast says
**
Now, we have the stone, cold evidence of bending intelligence to sell us on death by the thousands, and neither a Republican Congress nor what is laughably called US journalism thought it worth a second look.
My friend Daniel Ellsberg once said that what's good about the American people is that you have to lie to them. What's bad about Americans is that it's so easy to do.
**
thanks for your piece Greg
and sorry for us all…

New Day
let us hope today
that holding this first election
in Iraq
will be the first stage
of the healing
and the self-empowering of
this wounded, complex country
regardless of how you feel about the war
and how you feel about the way this president has handled taking us to war
and handled winning the peace after getting there
today
its all about Iraq
trying as best it can to take itself back
from America
from its past wounds with Hussein
from its many terrorist factions all wanting their piece
from the rest of the world
this war and its aftermath are costing americans billions
billions of dollars not spent
on our health-care
billions that could be put into the much talked about social security
billions that could save our homeless
billions that could go to Aids research
billions that could give jobs to the jobless
billions that could lift the economy
let us hope that the money
and the lives
and the pain
and the anguish
of the people in our country
who have lost so much because of this war
will not be in vain
that in the end
Iraq will stand tall and proud
as a brave and brilliant democracy
a first of its kind
amongst its neighbors
today
let us hope
is the beginning
of a new era
for Iraq
and the beginning of a healing
era
for all those who have lost everything
and who today
need to see something good come of it

Iraq and Vietnam, not so far apart ?
I know that right wingers get pretty pissed off when you compare Iraq to Vietnam
but lately i've been feeling some Vietnam de ja vus
you see i was born in the mid 60's so my first real understanding of Vietnam didn't happen until the 70's, until Vietnam was at that stage where it was just dragging on and on and often folks were just like
shit, isn't this over yet
are we really still there
thats the feeling ive been getting about Iraq
and no, not nearly the time frame of Vietnam
but that feeling of
are we really still getting our asses blown off over there?
I just read about the un-armed new Iraq recruits coming back with their first pay
from training
to be shot in the head, face down in the dirt
helpless and innocent
american soldiers are still getting killed
it doesn't feel like peace is coming any time soon
billions and billions of dollars gone
does Iraq love us for liberating us?
honey
do you feel loved?
I think we woulda been a hell of a lot better off
finding some other way
but now that we are there
we have to finish what we started
we cant just walk off and leave a big mess to turn into another Taliban
oasis
or some such thing
but what a high price
so many lives
so many billions that could have saved so many lives
my pal Gus wrote in his very excellant comic strip
when one of his characters compared Iraq to Vietnam
"There's a big difference...Bush Avoided Vietnam"
thanks for the humor in the face of all this crap Gus
as for me
I think I've gotta say again
given the choice of the president who never really saw action
but has no qualms sending us in ill prepared to war
and the one who is a war hero but brave enough to speak out against the same war he served in
i'd go for the brave war hero
not the
impatient coward
what say you?

FOLKSY BABY
well honeys i'm guessing you probably saw the debate?!
well if you did, you'd have to either be drunk or full on hard-headed to not know John Kerry won that hook line and sinkaaaaa
but you know it was actually a frightening experience for me
because even though I was watching Kerry answer in a truly thought out intelligent. well done way
and even though i was watching the baby bush answer like a 16 year old spoiled brat
if i heard him say "wrong war, wrong time" one more time, i think i would have crawled thru the television and bit his nose off
i still knew that probably damn near half of this country was either too stubborn to aknowledge how severely Kerry had aced the debate
or too red-necky to see anything other then how darn "Folksy" that little GW is..
"FOLKSY?"
yeah ask him why he lied, why he rushed to war, why he isolated us from the world, from the UN, and he'll answer
well..uh..you know...we had to kill those evil doers...
and my opponent is bad for troop moral cause he keeps saying
"wrong war, wrong time"
and i just pray and pray and pray
OH LORDY KEEP ME BEING SO CUTE AND COWBOYISH!
what a folksy little fellow!
forget it honeys
listen if you were going to vote for the baby bush
can you just open your eyes and look at the man
on a live debate
he cant even answer a straight question
for crying out loud
don't confuse FOLKSY
with IDIOT
they are two different things
and IDIOT
might just get us all killed
by the way does anyone know when GW got that Texas accent?
was it growing up in New Haven
was it at YALE?
this question...from my good pal Gus.

Elect my Bush for President Instead
I am horrified at the exploitation of September 11th at the hands of the Republican Convention now thankfully over.
I have watched travesty after travesty in these last few days in New York City and I sit here, absolutely disgusted and horrified.
Mr. President. You say you care so much for New York and what we’ve been through.
Then why the hell did you let them hold the Republican National Convention here?
How did you think the thousands of cops in riot gear, the national guard with their sharp shooters rifles, the helicopters, the planes, the SWAT team vans were going to feel to us New Yorkers who are still walking around with a latent case of post traumatic stress disorder?!
For me, I felt like it was September 12th all over again and the anxiety level racing through my veins has been non stop since Monday.
Then, of course, thanks to our incredibly unpopular mayor Bloomberg and our governor George Pataki who is convinced that kissing your ass is his chance to be a president one day, the protestors in this city have been treated like terrorists and criminals.
I could not believe that a few nights ago I watched hundreds of peaceful protestors arrested.
But what has shaken me to the bone is that last night many of them were just getting out of jail, 36 hours, 48 hours, 60 hours later. They were kept in damp horrible conditions where many of them got sick, without being charged.
Some of them, I believe are still in jail?!
The outrage was so great a judge ordered the city of New York to release them and because the NYPD did not. The city of New York is now being fined 1,000 per person, so we NYC tax payers get to pay the thousands of dollars because the NYPD was told to keep these trouble makers locked up until George W Bush is out of town.
Is this America?
Am I now in some kind of sick dictatorship?
I was disgusted when our former Mayor Rudy Guiliani stood up and essentially asked America to honor the fallen heroes of “911” by voting for Bush.
How dare you sir?!
Use the memory of 3,000 dead to coerce an election?!
That is disgusting.
How dare you Mr. Bush use the memory of 3,000 dead in such an exploitive way.
I was here in downtown NYC on September 11th 2001. I saw the towers burn. I saw the towers fall. I smelt the acrid horror.
I went down to the towers and fed, clothed and tried to comfort the broken battered rescue workers who were looking for their brothers, their fathers, their sisters, their daughters, their best friends.
What I remember about you Mr. Bush is that you were no were to be found in those first terrible days. You sat in the schoolroom when you got the news and just froze there wasting precious time as you blinked un-able to move, then you got in your plane and ran away.
And, okay, maybe as president you are supposed to run and hide when danger hits, but don’t paint yourself as a brave hero today, because when all the dust had settled, days later, you stood at ground zero and posed for the cameras.
Now you are in our great city again, exploiting our fallen heroes, bringing back all the horror of the most terrible morning for us all over again with security forces and alarms and sirens and guns.
Our own police department has turned against us, by throwing us into jail having largely committed no crime and keeping us there, un-charged, in the worst conditions; Guantanamo Bay on the Hudson and it is.
I went to Union Square Park last night for a candle lit vigil and I walked with my candle and la Cubana with her candle through thousands of peaceful protestors, I saw a woman who had lost her son in Iraq, and old lady sitting alone under a tree with a small one candle, thousands of people with signs proclaming their outrage,
hundreds of teary faces, I saw young men and women dancing to drums and artists, musicians, performers of all kinds using their art to show their heart.
Yes, there were plenty of super left wing radicals who I felt no association with, but there were also plenty of simple, fed up Americans who were worried for the future of this country if we have another 4 years of what feels more and more like a dictatorship.
I listened to George Bush speak last night. I listened to him exploit September 11th again and again. I listened to him excuse the lies about our war to Iraq yet again. I listened to him pretend that the economy is on the rise again and again despite all evidence to the contrary. I listened to the dog and pony show in Madison in Square Garden while thousands of Americans were outside crying and screaming and praying for an end to this regime.
I am not radical.
I am not a super lefty, as you know I am fiercely pro Israel and was fiercely anti Sadam and Fiercely anti Taliban.
But I do not like the way this president has lassoed our fear to take away our human rights.
I came very close to being arrested a few nights ago for walking in a peaceful, legal protest and maybe right now I would still be in jail or be sick in the hospital as my asthma was made full scale by the terrible conditions. Maybe today I would be damaged emotionally or physically and afraid to stand up for my rights again and that, I suspect is just what George W Bush wants.

Iraq Smack
okay sorry to all your right ringers
but i gotta say it
the shit in Iraq is feeling like such a deja vus of Vietnam its scary
the deja vus part for me is that here we are a year after the war is supposedly over and our boys and gals are still getting blown up over there
the country is getting torn apart
the people are not loving us
hell even the anti saddam folks are trying to kill us now
its just a big bloody pile of crap
you know any war is horrible
i just went to see "The Third Man" with Orson Welles
a gorgeous snazzed up copy of one of the greatest films ever made
and a film I'd never seen on the big screen
(actually never saw it on TV either...)
and what really got me was the real star of the film
The back drop of war torn Vienna just after WW2..
The city was so beautiful and so scarred with blown up buildings, burnt holes,
burnt people all around like a giant open wound..It reminded me that even in a war that we absolutely had to fight..lord knows we had to take down Hitler..there would be innocent lives taken...occupied cities further hurt...
i once was told a piece of wisdom to remember
you may have heard it
"when it comes to love and war..there are no right decisions"
and i guess this is true
yes..we had to get rid of Saddam Hussein..he was a murderer, a dictator, a tyrant..but did we handle this the right way?
is all this infighting and terror and destruction we see now in Iraq a huge improvement over how their lives had been?
I wish our president had not tried to shnooker the U.N., had not lied about weapons of mass destruction and had just taken us to war for the right reason..
to remove a tyrant..
but then he would have had to explain why other tyrants and other terrorist supporting nations like say ohh saudi arabia not only go un-challenged by us..but make a huge pile of cash from us...
So what's the answer now?
Pull out and leave the country to turn into another Aphganistan..ruled by a fundamentalist Moslem group that will terrorize women, perhaps stone them for exposing their face or burn them for wearing lipstick...and anyone else who doesnt conform to their standards..
Do we stay until we know that some sort of democracy is there and then try to help that democracy take shape...but meanwhile..risk having every inch of Iraq blown to smithereens by the groups who want us out already?
Sadly...there doesn't seem to be any right answer now...
and all the efforts now to make things better seem to fall on deaf ears..
No..I don't think this was well handled at all...
The next time I travel over seas...I think I'll tell everyone I'm a Canadian.
Thursday, February 12
let me see kerry on my own
ok you know what i'm gonna admit something to you right now
i did not know who the hell John Kerry was until a year ago
ok
i said it
that being said..i have been given an amazing opportunity re. John Kerry especially cause it looks like he at least has a chance of being our next president
that opportunity is to without being colored by any preconceived notions just see what i think of him
so far i've pretty much liked everyone i've seen
except for his playing both sides of the fence re. the gay marriage issue
shame, shame
so now, of course, i've been reading about his anti-war activities after coming back from Vietnam
you know what
this has really made me like him
big time
you've all met Vietnam vets
who have come back horrified, ruined, crazed, crippled, forever damaged
by what they saw, felt, did and had done to them over them
and most of them are royally mad about being sent there for a war that should not have happened
to have been wounded three times in the line of heroism
survive
and come back here to stand up publicly and denounce the war as wrong
that shows three things to me
courage,
honesty
and the ability to rise above ones sense of what you're supposed to do
and follow your heart which i suppose is courage and honesty all over again
supposedly, if this is any indication, the vietnam vets calling up to join in support of kerry is off the charts..
but what is it thats haunting the news? Hmmm?
the big ass propaganda train that’s pummeling us from every direction
that because kerry was seen in the background of a photograph with Jane Fonda
and because they both spoke at the same rally
he's practically being anointed as her lover
FONDA/KERRY
thats what the republican propaganda machine wants us to feel
well you know what
i don't like jane fonda
except of course for barberella which was an excellent flick
but what i really hate is this kind of politics
dirty pool
folks
this is gross
and for the record
i dont like it from either side
when it happens republican or democrat
the hype
the spin-doctors
the mud slinging
isn't america sick of this shit already
just show us the facts
stop treating us like idiots
and let us make our own decisions
and FYI
for all the folks who think that now
kerry is the wrong guy
cause he was anti war
and now we are at war
think again
he's been brave enough to stand up and tell the truth
brave enough to embrace a fight against a war that nearly killed him
and most likely killed many of his friends
i want a brave president
who tells it like it is
i don't want any more spin-doctors
liars
two faced double talkers
i want someone real
and you know what
maybe kerry isn't real
maybe he's a liar too
and a faker
but i'd like to find that out for myself
not because of all this propaganda
thank you

back in the saddle
well darlings
i just got back from mexico
and i had quite the adventure..
ill just do a quick recap..
stayed in Puerto Morales..a sleepy little town...that still has its Mexican authenticity somewhat intact, although there is a sushi place in town..
i figure in two years it will be a crazy honky tonk tourist town
but for now
it was quiet and sleepy
and i got to destress
in my small resort...on the beach
with far too many waiters who seemed to either want to marry me
or be my baby
not sure which
this mommy, mami, mommita thing you know
anyway i took some crazy day trips
into Playa del Carmen
a wild honky tonk town of the variety i just mentioned P.M turning into
i dont know what happened to all the deals in Mexico
cause i surely didnt find any
i spend about 300 bucks just walking from one end of the main Playa drag to the other..
then i took a full day to see the amazing Ixcaret pronounced Ish Ka Ret..which is a gigantic ecological park
honey i was truly amazing
your truly madame wimpy in the water
went on a two mile river swim mostly under caves and in black places where im pretty sure bats slept
i saw sea turtles some of them tourists from Wisconsin
some of them real turtles
i saw a wild Mayan ritual fire ball show
then went back to my sleepy resort and chilled
lastly i went to Isla Mojares
the island of women
and honey this place was a blast
a sorta 1970's keywest meets mexico kinda island
very busy
filled with tourists driving around the 5 mile island on scooters or in golf carts
and there was a beach bar for about every two feet i stepped
also
a gigantic array of topless women
very nice
although
i think i did it right
cause again i was happy to return to my sleepy resort
where all was quiet
now then
unfortunately
my sleepy resort had some issues
the largest of which was that everyone was so busy being sleepy
they didnt properly watch out for little things
like oh
scorpions!!!!!!!
yep
i returned from the spa one night half asleep
to throw myself onto my bed
and what started to crawl towards me
literally two inches from my ass
A SCORPION!!!
honey im so sure you heard that scream back to america
i think all of mexico heard it
they sent some dude into kill it
but i was never the same
kept feeling like every breeze was another one
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyaaaaaaaa
now then
im back
and im bitchy
and i ready to rant
and i want to start off right now
with a few things on my mind pronto
first of all
decide if you like howard dean
or hate him
or dont give a rat's ass about him
whatever
but don't throw the man away cause he shows emotion
war cries, determination
shit
this country needs a human president right about now
honest emotion
why is that such a bad thing?
ill tell you whats scary
60 minutes last night
that was scary
talking about how some major companies
like Halliburton, G.E. and Conoco Phillips..
have found a legal loop hole to do business with counties like Iran that sponsor terrorism
how the loop hole works
well take Halliburton for instance
they cant legally do biz with Iran
so what they do is set up a subsidiary based on the Cayman Islands to do the dirty work for them..
its amazing honey
and another little ditty about Halliburton is that its former C.E.O was vice pressy Dick Cheney...
so while the whole country wants the head of Kenny Lay former C.E.O of Enron (another Cheney association hmmm) nobody seems to talking about how old man Dick...ran a company that invests kazillions in Iran..which then has the bucks to support terror...how nice Dicky pooo
Gee I sure want to have you step up to the plate if something happens to Dubya
its the first time i ever found myself wishing for the good health of george junior
so speaking of Bush
and no the good kind
out in mexico
i had a little paper called the Cancun edition of the Miami Herald
dropped off for moi
it kept me A Breast (hehe) of Junior's state of the union speech and his goings on
this is what i gotta ask you
think about this before you send me back a pile of nasty comments
ok
so lets say you were pro war
as you know i was not anti war myself here
but lets say you are a total republican
way pro war
totally in love with george junior
and his dad
and cheney
(which means you probably dont read my site but what the hell im on a roll here)
aren't you asking yourself
about these weapons of mass destruction that never were found?
aren't you kinda wondering why our president is still covering up
doing spin doctor waves to draw our attention to other things?
suddenly announcing the war was oh really about taking down saddam
when a year ago that was just supposed to be a nice little by-product of the war
listen
obviously junior was gonna take us to war no matter what
its obvious isnt it?
come on you know it is..
so why give us the big bullshit?
why not say
this man is an evil dicatator and a murderer
and we need to save the people of Iraq
and then go to war..
hmmm probably cause then you'd have to admit why other evil dictators are allowed to say in power cause they're you know profitable for us...
and honey why on earth would you say
you will follow what the U.N. says and then go against it
thats just a one way ticket to
making the world hate you
and they do
they surely do
also
can i make another little point here
junior would like to spend
how many MORE billions taking out terrorism world wide
but um hello there
georgy
most of my friends here in the U.S.
you remember us don't you Americans
well most of my pals cant afford health insurance
and one of them is fighting for his life and can't buy his medicine
and the country has got a nice big ass homeless and jobless problem
and oh just about everyone i talk to these days is scared about the economy
have you noticed
us??!!
you know
your people
cause we could use some of those billions too
like maybe give us free medical care before you spend another 350 billions overseas...
and by the way
how dare you
stand up there
in your conservative
holier than thou
Christian
right wing
judgemental
bull crap
and tell me i dont have the right to marry my lover
you want me to pay your salary in my taxes
you want me to pay for your wars
you want my lover to
do the same
but you dont think we rate as real humans do you?!!
cause we don't have the right to love each other
what is more human but to love
and the right to love
the right to honor your love
how dare you sir
deny me that right
shame
shame on you
shame on all who support this ban on gay marriage!!!!
have we returned once again to the Puritan ways
of to the 1950's?!?!?
if september 11th had not happened
oh we all could be back to being nestled in our false sense of safety
all those terrible images
all that terrible death
all the nightmares
and the sorrow
and the anger
would be erased
and we would not have a president today with so much power
far too much power for any president under his belt
using our fear
to brain wash us
to guide us
to manuever us to
throw away our
rights, our judgement
and to join under him ..like cattle
like MAD COW CATTLE!
lord please tell me
this man wont be around for a second term
i so fear what he
and his partner in arms
Dick (i fund terrorism and then pretend to fight it) cheney
will to do to our world
lord please tell me
that some sense of sanity will be restored to the people of this country
all im asking
is simply this
WAKE UP!!
Wednesday, May 21
fear knot
so i got myself into a strange mood last night
might have something to do with the fact that i watched the final episode of
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER ( booo hoooo why meeeeee …picture nancy kerrigan here)
and then chased buffy
by watching the second half of "Hitler the Rise of Evil"
Buffy was intense..and while I loved the whole let's make all the girls slayers thing
and the lets blow up sunnydale and kick hell to well hell
i was a little let down by the final moments of the show
sorta anti-climactic
buffy just smiling as all her pals ask her
what do we do now?
but then i thought on it and took it as kinda poetic
an open book
she's smiling because for the first time
since she learned she was a slayer
her future is uncertain
the world her oyster
and all that
kinda cool
what i shoulda done was just shut the boob tube off
and rolled in buffy for a bit
hmm that sounded sexy
anyway
i watched hitler
i appreciated that the two part movie
focused on his rise from little abused boy
to big abusive satan
and did not focus on
what he did after he rose to power
namely genocide
what i found most frightening
was the part
towards the end of the movie
when he uses the destruction of a
major landmark
to install fear in the people
and uses that fear
to take away civil rights
to establish a special security force
not the army, but a special force
a home-land security force
and he links all
military and government
to fall in line under him
does this sound familiar?
i'm sorry but the whole
thing was a little de ja vus
for moi
the world trade center gets bombed
the fear in all of us is used
for the baby bush
to take away our civil rights
under a little dandy called the patriot act
and then link the various protective government agencies
under something called home-land security
you gotta admit
that's a freaky bit of similarity
the major difference of course
is us
the AMERICAN people
we would never let our president grab so much power that he would be able to annihilate innocents
turn our country into a police state
make homosexuality a crime punishable by a trip to the camps
we would never stand by
while our president
stripped away our rights of freedom of speech, press, self expression
we would never stand by while our president
targeted innocents amongst us for genocide
or would we?
what scared me the most last night
was when i put myself in the shoes of the average german during that time
if sticking up for the jews
could have meant the murder of my lover, my family
my close friends
would i have had the courage?
what if it happened here in America?
and it was not the jews
but the moslems
already i have issues
HUGE ISSUES
over moslem fundamentalists who have created so much evil
and terror
would i put my life on the line
and the life of my family to protect innocent Moslems
people who have a way of life I know nothing about
who already have started to symbolize something negative to me???
i would like to think i would
i would like to think my sense of humanity would outweigh my fear
or any prejudice these times may have instilled in me
just like i'd like to think that in nazi germany i would have hidden jews
joined the french resistance
poisoned nazi soldiers
stolen their machine guns and plowed them down
done something!
but i don't know
I don’t really know how brave I am
When it comes to the death of people I love
and all this
somehow
last night
just felt
a little too close to home
for me
maybe i'm just nuts…
I mean the baby bush is certainly a far cry from Hitler or anyone like him
And I even admit
Yes I admit that there are things I have liked about the baby bush
Namely his support of Israel
And his taking out of the Taliban the numero uno killers of women
I hate &^%$#* women killers
But The Patriot Act is frightening
And I think what’s more frightening is to use fear to guide a country
What you think this is only a german thing?
A country guided by fear is just how the communist witch hunt happened.
It’s just how the American Japanese camps happened.
And it’s how slowly and without a lot of us noticing..the fear of “911” and the fear of continued terrorism is being used to create laws that little by little chip away at our constitution.
I was not anti-war against Iraq.
But I felt truly frightened that the people who were anti-war were treated as they were.
That the human rights organization here in New York had to get involved because people who demonstrated against the war were being treated as possible terrorist sympathizers.
I was terrified that people were afraid to speak out if they were anti-war because of what might happen to them.
I was even concerned about an FBI file being created for me because of things I have said on this sight.
I'm sure there is an FBI or CIA or home-land security file on me..
Better make sure you get a picture boys! My sex appeal is why I'm so dangerous.
but I digress....
This is America!
We’re supposed to feel free to open our big fat mouths and say whatever the hell we want to say even if you hate it.
And you’re allowed to open your big fat mouth and tell us to screw ourselves.
The government should not treat anti-war folks like criminals as long as they are not committing a crime while getting their point across.
If they are arrested, they should certainly not be interrogated as possible terrorists!
Hello jack-asses…being anti-war usually means you’re a pacifist not a terrorist.
Duh!
Anyway…I’m a little worried about us all but the very fact that I’m sitting here writing this and you’re sitting here reading this…means that things should be okay.
Right?

Ready to Rant
Okay.
I’m ready.
I’m ready to rant.
As I’ve written in my many stages of being “War torn” I have found myself in a precarious position.
I have not been able to be anti-war as one of the dictators in this world I hate most is Saddam Hussein.
I have not been able to be pro-war as I think war is never good although it is sadly sometimes necessary.
I have shimmied and shaked and basically just sat there with my ass on the damn fence and, I might add, one of the pointy pieces of this fence has been digging into my nether regions.
Yesindeeedeee!
I’ve been uncomfortable.
This is not a natural position for me; to be caught in the middle.
I am used to being an all or not at all woman.
I am used to championing the underdog.
To fighting fights that are often unpopular.
To voicing opinions that are the anti-Christ to PC-ism.
But here I have been with my ass impaled on that fence.
Aaakkkouch!
Almost all of my friends are anti-war.
My girlfriend is anti-war.
Late at night when I turn to her, she looks into my eyes and I can almost hear her thoughts, “How can a humanist like you..not be against this war?”
But it is because I am humanist that I have not been against this war.
This man is evil incarnate.
His people will be a thousand times better off without him.
Yet. I also wonder. Who are we to play god?
What right to we really have to police the world?
My friend Debbie, a major anti-war chick, told me that if I wanted a quickie anti-war education to chat with her mom. Her mom, who has a sweet grandmotherly way about her, ran through all the anti-war drills that I’d heard before.
“Powell didn’t prove he had weapons of mass destruction.”
Yeah …yeah…heard it.
“Innocent people are being killed.”
Been there….done that….
“What was Saddam gonna go anyway?”
Um…maybe blow Israel away for starters…..
I smiled politely, but I was not moved.
I said softly, “He’s another Hitler.”
Then she said possibly the only thing I’ve heard that has sunk in.
“Did we do everything we could have done first? Was this really our last resort?”
She added.
“If there was one thing we could have tried before war…than war was wrong.”
And now, after many days of thinking and pondering… I have to agree with her.
I don’t think this was our last resort.
I think we could have tried something else, one more time line, one last-ditch effort. We could have sent a thousand inspectors over there and really tore up the joint. Yes, yes, yes, YES, the chances are, we might well have wound up exactly where we are right now…at war.
But at least we would have had the support of the world behind us.
Or, well, a little more support.
At least we would have known that we tried everything.
Now don’t get me wrong.
Now that we are there. I really see no reason to spend millions of dollars dealing with all this anti-war crap, because HELLO WE ARE AT WAR! YOU”RE TOO LATE!
And I also must add, that quite simply I want Saddam Hussein dead.
I want him to be strung up naked by hundreds of women who then each take turns torturing him however they see fit. As women are second-class citizens to this prick, I figure lets up the anty by having them be his torturers. But I want to him to survive this bout although I do want it to be telecast live on international TV. Then I want him to be deported to Israel. Deposited in the center of Jerusalem and surrounded by the family of every person killed by a suicide bomber whose family he had rewarded with a check for 25,000 bucks. They get to kill him.
That’s what I want for him…a multitude of death on live TV.
So no. I guess you can say I am not a pacifist.
But here’s the problem.
There is another man I am starting to hate with a growing passion.
Another man that I am beginning to see as a sort of dictator.
Another man that I am beginning to suspect may be a murderer.
And that man is the president of the United States.
The amount of world support this country had after September 11th was unprecedented. We even had sympathy from Arabs. Probably any other president in history (except for maybe Papa Bush) would have milked that level of worldwide support for years of great and powerful moves. But the Baby Bush, the grand marshal of his own ego parade, blew it all like one giant premature ejaculation.
We’re just running on fumes now.
We’ve got more enemies that we’ve probably ever had.
Even our allies hate us.
Even we hate us.
He stirred up all our fears after September 11th, a day that I remember most as the day our president ran and hid and we all wished he could be replaced by Rudy Guiliani.
The Baby Bush used our fears to launch “The Patriot Act” which has been a steady eating away of the bill of rights ever since.
Now we can be searched without warrant.
Our emails checked.
Our purchases at Amazon.com checked.
The books we take out of the library checked.
We can be detained without legal representation.
A little know fact I just learned today.
It used to be that 12 years after a president left office his papers were made available to the public. So just in time for Papa Bushes secrets to finally be read by us all, the Baby Bush did away with this. Now we never can read the president’s papers if he doesn’t want us to. What was Papa Bush hiding?
What does the Baby B not want us to know?
Was Monica Lewinsky on the Bush payroll?
I’m not an anti-war protestor and I won’t be, but the way this country reacts to anti-war protest does frighten me. We have the right to voice our opinion in this country. It is a democracy. If you want to scream you want peace. You have that right. If I want to scream shut up and support our troops. I have that right. But if anyone takes away your right to scream that you want peace. Then I will fight to the death for you.
This is a democracy isn’t it?
Isn’t that why we want to liberate Iraq?
To give them democracy?
So then, we have to let everyone have their say, regardless of whether or not we agree.
Yet the air in this government right now, reminds me of the McCarthy era communist witch hunt.
I never used to feel afraid to voice my opinion and yet right now, as I write this, I do feel concerned. I do feel there is a chance that my anti-Bush rhetoric will wind up in a nice big FBI file for moi and one day..if I bitch too much about the wrong thing, I’ll just be taken away. Months may go by without any of you knowing where I am.
If you don’t see any new rants from me for awhile…..call up the baby Bush and say
“Where the fuck is Rossi?!”
Will ya?
It’s a scary time.
No president has exercised this much power since Nixon and wasn’t he swell?
I don’t like Bush, senior or junior.
I don’t like that the baby Bush did not win this election and he should not %$#&* be our ruler and thief.
I don’t like that he asked for U.N. support said he would respect the U.N. position and then when he didn’t get what he wanted he went ahead anyway.
Hello idiot! That was your ego talking.
You never thought the U.N. would say no to you!
That’s a gamble he never should have made.
If he wanted war, he should have just gone and made war and not promised to respect the U.N.’s opinion.
Now we look like a lone wolf with a few paid off allies.
I’m sure Osama ben Laden is laughing all the way to Baghdad. Not only did we take the heat off him, but we’ve managed to blow all the world support we snagged because of him.
Oh hey, a dandy little side dish…anti-Semitism is like off the charts.
So what’s my hope.
That this war is short.
That this country keeps its promise and does not try to take over Iraq but let’s whatever decent leaders there may be in Iraq take over themselves.
That we fix all the boo boos and help these people and heal the world opinion of us.
That on the next election we vote in someone with a brain, with diplomatic skills and a huge penis like say Hillary Clinton and that we all survive.
Meanwhile….I’m putting the double lock on my door.
Tuesday, March 25
not so pretty anymore
i guess you've been watching the news every day like the rest of us
then you noticed the change on sunday when suddenly it went from
these distant, hazy (almost pretty) explosions over bagdad
to our soldiers being killed and taken as prisoner
our executed soldiers on film
our soldiers taken prisoner being interrogated on film
certainly the good will that the anti-war protestors have been trying to muster up
for Iraq..has been dampened by this behavior
but something else has changed
our safe, distant perch
most of us probably thought this was going to be a quick show of fire-works
and then a mass surrender
it seems clear that our government thought that
now there are dead americans
dead brits
P.O.W.s
now there is blood on the television
i didn't watch the oscars
and no, it's not because i made a stand against them
it's because i was sitting in the waiting room
in a hospital while my girlfriend
visited her sister who had taken a bad fall
it was a cushy hospital
felt more like a hotel to tell you the truth
not at all like the
rows of drunken home-less people
stabbed drug dealers
and senile old folks
that had graced the corridors the last time
i'd been in a hospital
some things really are better in new jersey
anyway
the security guard gave me a sunday times
and i laid it out on a couch
in front of the fireplace
(i'm serious here..there was fireplace in the lobby of this hospital!!)
and read the whole damn paper
has anyone in the history of man ever read the whole sunday times?
i read the current events about the war updates
i read the fine print about how it's affecting us at home
i read the real estate section to see how the economy in nyc
is affecting real estate prices
i heard about the oscars the next day from my best pal tray
to tell the truth, i'd completely forgotten them
she told me about michael moore's controversial speech
then i saw a clip of it on the news
i guess what i would tell michael
if given the chance is this
the oscars are not the time or the place to do this crap
i can tolerate the light stuff, the susan sarandon stuff
hold up your peace sign
or make some PC statement while thanking your family
it's a free country
but on a day when our guys were being captured and killed
somehow shaming them
on a television show that people all the over the world
including troops at war, are watching
seems pretty lousy
then again
like i said it's a free country
and we are free to think he was a jerk to do this
or not
sunday was a turning point in this war
it's not exciting
or cool
we are no longer seeing those "high fives"
and smiling soldiers
we will win this war
and take out a regime that
is evil personified
but when we do win
it will be hard to celebrate
looking at all the bodies and ruined lives in the mix
i saw the clip of the soldiers trying to comfort the
burnt Iraqie little girl who had been severely injured in the attacks
they reached out to her
to pet her
she looked lost and ruined
i know we are taking out a dictator who might one day
see to the rape, murder, torture, or oppression of that little girl
or someone in her family
but still
it was hard to look at her
i do wish there had been another way
i do hope this ends soon
i do hope we did the right thing
i hope
the discovery of russia selling iraq weapons
france turning their cold, (anti-semitic) shoulder on us
turkey saying no
arab countries burning american flags
north korean jazzing up their nukes
will not be the beginning of a larger war
a world wide war
a war that no one will ever walk away from smiling
feeling innocent again

the truth the whole truth
watching the news these last few weeks
has been giving me a huge deja vus
and i'm not talking about a deja vus for 911
or the gulf war although that's certainly there
i'm talking about a major deja vus for my childhood
i don't remember much about the vietnam war
i was 8 when it ended certainly old enough to have been affected
i do remember being taught somehow that the news was for grown-ups
not for kids
i remember nixon
and i remember thinking he was the only president i would ever know
because he seemed to be around for so much of my beginning childhood
i did feel during the vietnam era
that there was something going on outside my world that i was not supposed to know about
there were a lot of things like that in my childhood
when my parents had trouble with each other
when they decided to keep separate bedrooms
on separate floors in the house
i had the sense that there was something in my world that wasn't
well kosher...but it was kept at bay
it was kept out of my reality
my parents never did split up
they stayed together until death do them part
but now as an adult
i can look back and know that their marriage
was not an easy, loving, romantic one
it was not any of the things i would hope to have in my own
and yet we, the kids, were protected from knowing this
i can't say that knowing would have bettered my life
i might have been even more neurotic
or less
it's kinda the same with the vietnam war
i was vaguely aware of it knocking on the perimeters
of my childhood
i knew there was something dark and bloody out there
but it never got in
so here i am again
watching the war on the news
seeing the explosions
for months i've known that no matter what the U.N. said
no matter what the inspectors did
no matter what allies rallied around us
we were going to war
i haven't been able to take a stand against it
because one thing i do know
is that saddam hussein is a monster
if for no other reason that the liberation of his people
he has to go
but why now?
why today?
why with such a fury?
why not 12 years ago when we risked the lives of so many of our own
to push him back?
what is the hidden agenda?
what is the terrible dark thing knocking just outside our horizon that
we don't know about it
and are we better off not knowing?
being an American today
reminds me a lot of being a child
we're given partial stories
geered to inspire us to patriotism
to rage
to support of our parental government
but we can feel
knocking..off in the hazy distance
the real truths
wanting to be heard
i for one
would like to take the risk of what all this knowledge might do to my pshyche
and hear the whole truths
then again
i saw "the matrix" three times
i want to be un-plugged

push push in the bush
speaking of bush
can everyone go to asparagirl's site (see upper left i'm do %$#& lazy to type in the %$#& code) and read what the high goddess of excellent attitude has to say about fucking for freedom
trust me it's a whole new spin on things and you may want to bring the KY
ok so yeah i saw president bush's press conference
damn
i have to say watching him really does make me feel schizoid as hell
because he is such an arrogant little prick
i mean he doesn't even attempt to answer anyone's questions
and he had some hard ass questions thrown at him
that gave him ample opportunity to turn things around
but the problem is
bush only works on script
because he isn't really running the show
i don't know who is
dick cheney i presume
colin powell
or my personal guess
the wizard of oz
but i just want those damn curtains to open
and then we'll see the real poobah
"THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ!!!!"
and then just when we thought
we could not be any further shocked
the great and powerful oz
will reveal himself to be
drum roll here
DON KNOTS (is that how you spell his name)
ok so yeah
i think bush is a putz
i do
always hated him
hated his dad
the whole family just a bunch of spoiled rich yahoos bathing in oil money
but the problem is
i hate saddam hussein more
I've had it out for his ass since
he started doling out those whopping 25,000 checks to the families of the suicide bombers
so listen here i am
a humanist
liberal
democrat
who has taken a bit of a bend in the road
since the intifada
since 911
and i'm saying to the anti-protestors
when/if
the time runs out and saddam does not disarm
what is your suggestion?
to let him be?
to leave him to his own devices??
go along now little saddam
do as you will
we trust you
what will you say when september 11th happens
again
in israel?
in san francisco?
in london?
in LA?
if you don't want to force him to disarm
then what is your suggestion?
keep talking?
talking
talking
or what?!?!?
i'd like to hear it
i'd like to hear something productive here
besides
peace at all costs
because peace at all costs
is exactly what i have against this tyrant
come on
tell me
whats your plan
spill it!

the patriot act....
since the suicide bombing in Israel started
since "911"
i've been feeling completely confused about who i am politically
my life used to be simple
i was a liberal democrat
the end
but then the liberal democrats started bashing israel
and the uptight right wing republicans started defending it
then the liberal democrats were asking me to march in anti-war protests
and the republicans were calling saddam hussein a dictator who has to go
on the one hand
i hate bush
not only has he got to be the president with the lowest IQ in history
but he's also got hidden agenda stamped all over his chimpanzee face
on the other hand...what would have happened if gore won (well if he won and they let him be president, i mean he did win) the election
would he have walked over to the taliban and offered them some tofu
and said things like "please don't hurt us...let's all meditate together.."
i mean when it was time to take out the taliban i felt glad to have a war monger in the white house...this was a time for cowboys
and when arafat started his bullshit...i like that bush told him to shut the fuck up
but the thing that's starting to scare me
is this patriot act stuff
because "sleepers" amongst us...hijacked some planes and tore away our hearts our virginity and our sense of security...now this government is trying to take away our privacy too
maybe it comes from reading "1984" in my formative years, but that scares the shit out of me
yes...detain terrorists...detain them till hell freezes over...
but don't check up on what books i buy on amazon.com or take out from the library
don't read my emails
don't come into my home without just cause and not even tell me you were there
i don't know where the fine line is between protecting us from terror
and taking us back to the communist witch hunt days
but i hope someone finds it
it's scary
a gal at the gym told me about "the new york city bill of rights defense campaign"
a group of folks trying to stop the patriot act from taking over one city at a time
this city new york city, the greatest city in the universe
i'm torn about a lot of things in this war
but here's what i'm not torn about
i am an american
and have certain un-alliable rights
and i don't want them taken away because a group of motherfucking cowards
killed 3,000 people
i don't know what the answers are here
but i do know there has to be some kind of happy medium
defend me from terrorists
but don't take away my basic freedoms to do so
i guess...i should assume that it's possible that someone in the government is reading this right now and starting a file on me
if so... remember to get it right
i'm a downtown new york city bitch
and 100% all american girl

whoops
sorry for the last post appearing twice
could not seem to correct no matter how many times i pressed delete
what can i say
i am technologically challenged
in a big ass way
but here it is again
one time only
sheesh
Rather Knot
Thursday, February 27
ok so first let me just say
i did not watch the dan rather interview with saddam hussein...think I was watching the twilight zone at the time
what did it come on last night at 9pm?
hmm let's see it was ed, followed by twilight zone followed by queer as folk
A wild night for moi
anyway
anyway
thanks to the goddess Michele of small victory
(see upper left to link)
i was able to read a transcript
cause lord knows
i’m too caffeine challenged to actually download it from CBS
anyway
my first thought was
rather was showing the charming, human, kind side of saddam
just like barbara walters had shown the santa clause side of fidel castro
amazing how these great journalists
can show these lengthy...rating winning interviews
of major dictators
and not even laugh themselves silly
at said dictators
pretending to be kind jovial
saintly types
but at least fidel isn't exactly mass murdering his own people
today
anyway
love how saddam was all about allah
and love and peace and harmony
and the great people of Iraq
when he's made a point of torturing and terrorizing a nice chunk of his own people in the past
love the part where he suddenly seemed to know english
and what about him announcing that he did not lose the gulf war
Hello?
now as to his request to the president of america
for a debate to solve this
um...this is not an election campaign
this is a possible war against
a nightmarish dictator
who seems to have a huge problem
dismantling his missiles
what is this a penis thing?
first of all ...we all know the baby bush can not hold his own
in a debate that’s why gore won the election
yes won
so maybe saddam thinks he can save his country by outsmarting bush in a debate
the real issue here
is
holding a debate with saddam
elevates his importance
and also allows him a grand stadium to spin his
back talking bullshit
and lastly
would you have a debate with Mussolini
NOT
what scares me about all this humanizing of saddam
and anti-war protests
and celebrities for peace
is not the effort for peace
peace is always what one should strive for
it’s the separating of saddam from his actions
he is riding the wave of anti-war sentiment to set himself up
as the enemy of war, and the champion of peace
and yet the only reason, war is on the horizon is because of him violating
UN sanctions and building weapons of mass destruction
if he doesn’t want war
then throw away his weapons
easy
EASY
Stop grandstanding as this ALLAH loving man of the people
And bragging about being elected by 100% of his people
What would happen to the people who did not vote for him
I wonder
Gone
Disappeared
Missing
Just like so many pieces in this puzzle
Wednesday, February 19
the twenty five thousand dollar man
well there's nothing like being trapped
on the tip of cape cod during a blizzard
to get a girl thinking about things
not that i minded being trapped in provincetown
after all, even in the off-season it is the most romantic place in the north-east
and i was trapped with my cuban mamasita
and it was valentines day weekend
and we did have heat
wine
and lots of cold cuts for provisions
and the snow was glorious coating the town in soft white blankets
then i ruined it
i did, what no woman in the midst of such beauty should do
i made the most horrible mistake imaginable
i turned on the news
yep
there he was the craggy old nasty crow
who leads Hamas
yep the grand-daddy of the suicide bombers
i haven't even tried to remember his name
cause all i see is Hitler in arab clothing
but anyway
what he's saying through a translator
is that if America goes to war against Iraq
he will put a "Fatwa" spell?? on Americans too
so that Palestinian suicide bombers and their allies
will also consider it open season to suicide bomb Americans
lovely
the interviewer was like
umm "why help Saddam..you don't even consider him to be a good Moslem?'
and the fatwa bastard was like oh something about the principle of the thing
i'd say it was more about the 25,000 bucks that saddam has given to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers as a reward for a job well done
you know i'd forgotten all about the 25k rewards the man who rules a country crippled by poverty routinely gives out the the families of suicide scumbags
totally forgot about that
so here's what i'm thinking
let's cancel the war
let's send our soldiers home
let's put our weapons away
and let's just put out a global offer
25,000 to the families of any one who hits saddam hussein with a stone
wanna guess how many stones will nail that mo-fo
i'd say all of the poverty stricken Iraq folks
who don't have food but know their leader is sending big bucks to Palestinians
yep 25k if you hit him with a stone
50k if you cut off one of his limbs
100k if you castrate him
and a flat million of you kill the prick
why bother to go to war
lets put our money where the motherfucker is
and now
back to the snow
Friday, February 14
oranges, flowers and war oh my
ok
ok
so things are looking up
the other half and moi made up, after a day of processing and fried fish
(no pun intended at all)
the cat got his stiches out
i got my bitching out
and things are moving along
phew!
now then
since my brain seems to be screwed on semi properly
allow me to rant on a few things
to our lovely new homeland security chief
who has just asked us all to calm down about the orange alert
"hello..are you on drugs? how can you tell the %$^#& country that we're in the second highest alert and then say calm down...that's sorta like you've got cancer but hey don't worry about it."
the only reason i'm calm is because well after living in Crown Heights Brooklyn in 1981 nothing fazes me. if you want me to calm down any further than buy me some valium!
to the anti-war protestors..yes i support your right to protest
and hey, i'm still not sure where i stand anyway, as i have mentioned in the past,
but i was just wondering...do you think the same millions of folks marching around the world demanding peace, might consider marching around the world, demanding saddam hussein disarm so we can have peace?
just a thought here...but since the whole wide world is chanting for NO WAR
do you think some of that energy could be channeled into pressuring this guy into not forcing us to go to war?
march over to Iraq and scream at him for awhile too
the baby Bush is no angel...(I'm not even sure he's a person to tell you the truth) but sheesh he's a whole lot better than Saddam, mass murderer Hussein
so spread the protests around and give saddam a hefty dose of what you've got to say...he's the real prick
lastly
as today is Valentines day
it's fitting that I say at least something in tribute to
this day of l'amour
so while you're out there protesting the war
or demanding war
or hiding from terrorists
or looking for terrorists
or ignoring the whole damn thing
find somebody around you
and give them a flower
i don't care of its the toll booth collector at the midtown tunnel!
give somebody a ^%#$&* flower!!
ain't I romantic?
Wednesday, February 12
bring it on
lately it feels like my own life has had more than its far share of terror
my cat needed emergency surgery and has spent the last two weeks on pain killers wearing one of those cones around his head and giving me the saddest eyes in the universe
my upstairs neighbor has decided to advance from just being an inconsiderate jerk to being a full on %$#&* psycho and has taken to stomping on his floor (my ceiling) in the late night and early morning hours
when i called him up to ask him to stop he told me to "move the fuck out"
i moved the fuck to dialing "911' instead
the Jewish community center that i use as a gym went from having a bag check at the door to having a security process including metal detector wand that would make airport security look like a picnic
my work outs are better now,the adrenalin from the little hint of panic as you walk in the door is great for sit-ups
my two year anniversary with my other half turned into a night of processing...with no champagne...but lots of flowers
we're sulking now and sipping coffee....but we're still here
and on top of all of this
i have to go back into work mode with three huge events back-to-back
i find myself, pooped, fed up, raw and pissed off
in other words i'm in the perfect mood for an orange alert world
you wanna
attack this country
attack this city
attack my people
well come through me first
i'm in just the right frame of mind
to kick the living shit out of you
so bring it on
hell hath no fury like a downtown New York City bitch
Monday, February 10
war and fences
ok so i watched colin powell address the U.N.
if you read back a few pages you'll see i watched it while on jury duty
it was an odd and yet perfect place to watch Mr. Powell present his case
i guess i was left where i had been before.
absolutely convinced that saddam hussein is a nasty, prickly, sneaky, slimy, murderous, dictator
but then that's never been my apprehension about taking him out pronto
my fear is that...with the threat of us attacking him hanging over his head
he might just be smart enough and scared enough to cave in, completely
but if we just attack him, than he will mostly likely pull out all his nasty little secret weapons that he probably has hidden in his underwear drawer and his plumbing system
i also do think it's important to prove our case, to land the world support we need
because there's no sense losing our allies for future endeavors over this cowardly little mo-fo
i know he has to go
we all know he has to go
i think even he knows he has to go
but it's the how and when that's tricky
i must say as a writer, caterer, painter, NYer, i feel qualified to bitch and moan and kvetch and rally about a whole list of many and assorted things
but i don't feel qualified to rant on this one
i'm still sitting on the fence
i can only hope that some of the higher ups have a lot more no-how
than i do
but i will tell you this
if our country does decide to go to war against Iraq
they damn well better take his ass out this time
and not leave him to grow and fester like we did last time
i'll tell you something else too
if we decide to annihilate him
then i won't hear of anyone
sitting around denouncing our troops
calling anyone "baby killers" like we did in Vietnam
if we go to war
then the time to be anti-war is over
and the time to support your brothers and sisters fighting for their lives
will be on
yes i'm on the fence
but no way am i not gonna stand by our guys and gals if we send them over there
meanwhile
since i can't offer any expert opinions here
i think i'll shut the fuck up
Friday, February 7
orange is not the only fruit
yellow alert
orange alert
sheesh i feel like i'm in some sick kid's game
what's next?
Marco
Polo
or Simon Says
but so ok, we're now on orange alert
and we're just supposed to go about our lives like nada is wrong
ok..hmmm well i'm guessing i'll be okay in the east village since all the buildings are small, there's no major economic symbols (less you count the drug dealers)
and no particularly major symbol of americana (less you count charlie parker's house)...
but just what exactly are we supposed to do to prepare ourselves
heard on the news that you're supposed to have an emergency procedure practiced
how would that go exactly?
let's say for instance botulism is released all around you
"kids now don't breathe...whatever you do, mommy says don't breathe!"
or how bout a bomb takes out one of our major bridges?
"Um driver...would you mind shutting the meter off.."
I mean hello! This is not our parents war. This is not about air raids and bomb shelters.
It's about chemicals, air born disease, planes flying into sky scrapers..
How exactly do you prepare for that?
Buy tons of water?
hmm okay, well at least in the event of nuclear war we won't be thirsty
and speaking of nuclear
could someone please for the love of god someone tell our president
that the word is not pronounced
NUCULAR
sheesh
i think if i hear him say that one more time
im gonna go NUCULAR
anyway
so here we are
in orange land
our hearts a twitter
anxiety floating in the air
and we do exactly the only thing we can do
we go on
turn on the TV
pour a glass of wine
order stir fry
clip our toe nails
whatever
hey if I'm dying
i'm dying with short toe nails
Thursday, February 6
jury duty, powell and chips
can i just say
that watching Colin Powell address the U.N. from a broken down 1970's television hanging above the vending machine in the jury room of the criminal court building just a hop from ground zero will definately go down in my history as one of the oddest moments in my life
i glanced at the armed guard staring at me from the hallway
i looked out the window from the 15th floor and tried to figure out where the world trade center had been
i looked at the somewhat hazy image of Colin Powell showing photos, playing audio tapes, slowly...carefully...laying out the many pieces of evidence against Saddam Hussein.
I had just come up from almost being part of a jury for a murder trial that would have dragged on for four weeks..thankfully they excused the self-employed
everything seemed surreal
ground zero, the criminal court building, the call to war, the vending machine,
the group of people falling asleep around me, hoping not to be picked for a jury..
just a weird day
just a weird ass day
Thursday, January 23
good bad or something in between
Just watched Spider Man
Yeah I know another flick that I'm embarrassed to say I saw on per-per-view TV and not on the big screen.
What can I say I'M A FREAK!
Anyway, I was thinking about the scene where William Defoe's creepy villain The Goblin is asking Spidey to make a choice.
Be a hero and see how thankless people are, or just say, what the fuck and be a villain where all the fun is at.
Spidey opted for the first choice.. natch, but the whole scene got me to thinking...
which am I?
I've always felt like the last of the good guys...the one wearing the white hat and all that sorta thing.
My friends will tell you I'm honest to a flaw. ..definately to a flaw trust me on that.
I like to think I'm generous, kind, brave, giving.
But the way the world is going lately...I'm made more and more aware of how not pure and not good I really am.
I started out caring deeply about the Palestinian plight or at least trying to. Now when I hear the word Palestinian all I can think of is the murder of innocents. I don't see their victim-hood I see dead children on a blown up bus. I've lost my openness, my willingness to hear every side of the story.
I think of the possible war against Iraq and I want to care so much for all the innocent lives at stake but all I can see is Saddam with his snickering smile as he pushes the button sending a missile to Jerusalem....or New York.
I don't feel like the white hat cowboy anymore. I think my hat is turning grey.
Most of the hats I see out there aren't black or white anymore. They're something in between. A lot of them are red.
I'm frightened not so much of the bad people out there, but of me not feeling as far removed from them as I used to.
War, terrorism.. these things kill but they also do something far more dangerous; they make us less. They dampen our kindness.
I want to feel like Spider Man.
I want to know that I'm riding with the good guys ...even if I ride alone.

to war or not to war
I suppose you’ve noticed a major lack of commentary on my part re the war or not war against Iraq.
To be perfectly honest, I guess my lack of commentary is because I’ve been really confused about the whole issue.
There’s no question in my mind that Saddam Hussein is a major $#%^&* who has to be taken out if not for our good, certainly for the good of his own people.
He’s a nasty dictator who, if left to his own doings will certainly build weapons of mass destruction if he hasn’t already. He’s clearly attempted to build them and attempted to hide whatever he’s attempted to build.
He's a big attempter that guy.
The problem is that whenever you fight a war innocent people get killed.
Innocent people were killed in Afghanistan when we took out the Taliban, but, hey, most of us agreed that the Taliban had to go.
Although I must say, it pissed me off that this country didn’t want to take out the Taliban some years back when we learned what they were doing to women in Afghanistan. But of course the stoning, executions and amputations of women is never enough reason to get men to go to war.
The problem with Iraq is that it’s not a large murdering group of psycho Islamic fundamentalists who destroy all in their path that isn't Islam. It’s one psycho Moslem leader and his immediate underlings who destroy all in their path that isn't Saddam Hussein.
There are a whole lot of innocent lives caught up in this mix.
On the other hand.
I’ve had a little trouble stomaching some of the anti-war protests.
I've been watching a whole lot of college kids promenade around Washington Square Park with peace signs and army fatigues that they probably borrowed from their parents. Honestly they seem far more interested in resurrecting the 60’s then in fighting war.
HELLO IDIOTS! WOODSTOCK TWO WAS A BIG JOKE AND SO ARE YOU!
I do think Saddam has to go but I question just exactly why we didn’t take him out the last time we blew away a lot of innocent lives to push him back.
It also is a little disconcerting that all the while this country is saying it’s waiting for the U.N. to do it’s job it’s also sending troops over there. It seems clear to everyone that the baby Bush is gonna go to war regardless of what the U.N. finds.
Hidden Agenda might as well be tattooed on the baby Bush’s head…right under
I’m a cowboy!
I do think it would be a major PR boo boo for America to go to war without world support. Hell even England is starting to simmer off when it comes to war vigor.
I like that America is not one to walk away from taking on a world class jerk even if we're the only ones butch enough to do the job, but things are tricky these days.
It sure is sad that the baby Bush managed to blow all the “911” world support and we're now just running on fumes.
He surely should have taken out Saddam while he had the whole non-Arab world on his side.
But still, here I sit. I am unable to sign anti-war petitions.
I am also un-able to be hawking it up with the pro-war folks.
I sit uncomfortably on the fence.
I am waiting for the U.N. inspectors to do their job.
I am also hoping the Saddam will use some of the brain cells that got him so much power to know when to bend and how far over.
And I’m concerned as hell that all the world strife lately seems to have Islam thrown into the mix. If that doesn’t smell like the simmering for a World War 3 stew I don’t what does.
Islam against Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism. We’ve seen this already.
Is it only a matter of time before it’s Islamic fundamentalists against the non- Islamic world?
Kinda makes you wonder what creature will be reading about us one day a million years after we’re extinct.
To war or not war, that is a question I've yet to work out.
But I'm not the one with my life at stake. Or am I?
Wednesday, November 20
oil,oil and trouble
I took a cab ride to the gym yesterday.
Yeah I do get that there’s some irony there..taking a cab to the gym, but what can I say.
I was too tired to walk to the gym but not too tired to work out.
Hey I’m a woman! I’m entitled to be confusing.
So anyway, my driver DAMN IT, turned out to be one of the few NYC cabbies who like to talk. Worse yet, he spoke English.
Anyway, he felt compelled to tell me in detail, his conspiracy theory, (hmm shades of a Mel Gibson movie) that the US only wants to fight Saddam because we want Iraq’s oil.
I was like, well ummm..there is the matter of the weapons of mass destruction.
He was un-daunted.
“The US control all the oil except Iraq’s!” he shouted.
I didn’t take the time to delve into this new line of dialogue, because we got to my stop, and. ..well…because he was starting to spit. So I gave him a half tip, (I feel strongly that spitting should cut the tip in half) and went to the gym.
So here’s the thing. I get that controlling oil in Iraq would be good or great or terrible depending on who you talk to.
I get that the higher-ups in this country (and in every other) probably have hidden agenda stamped on their foreheads.
I even get that the %$#^&*^ US government might have murdered Marilyn Monroe!!
But after all is said is done…I’m left with…this thought.
So.
This still doesn’t make it any better that Saddam may be building an arsenal of nasty toys.
I was never against taking out Saddam.
My problem was that I thought the baby Bush was speaking out of his penis not his brain when he starting making war threats without UN support.
He also kinda blew the whole international good will thing we had going after September 11th.
Since then, he’s obviously been listening to his elders and he took a deep breath and started playing the game.
So guess what?? The baby Bush got what he wanted; total UN support, not to mention kicking our (the Democrats) asses in the elections.
As a woman, a lesbian, a humanist and a triple minority I’m way bummed about the Republican take-over, but as a Jew who loves the homeland of my heart; Israel, I’m feeling a tad conflicted.
Then comes this little curve-ball.
Last night I watched Al Gore being interviewed on the Charlie Rose show.
Al obviously got back a lot of the alpha male stuff he lost playing the smaller guy to Clinton. I’m not sure if he would win an election today, (although I do believe he may have won the last one) but I liked him more than I have.
Al brought up a side issue that’s been fairly stream-rolled in all this chat about oil, oil, who’s got the oil??!
His issue is oil, oil, how long before our planet is destroyed by oil?
Shit! The planet! I forgot all about the %$#&@* planet!
Wouldn’t it be just the perfect holy irony, if we took out Saddam, 86’d the terrorists, got all the oil under our control and all the Islamic fundamentalists in jail (or in hell) and then this planet was made un-livable by global warming?
God would surely be laughing then, or crying.
I’m not saying we should slow down in our fight against terror.
Not saying that at all.
I’m just saying we shouldn’t’ let all our war cries and anti-war cries drown out the fact that drilling will destroy a huge and gorgeous part of Alaska and a freighter just went down off Spain with enough oil on board to make Exxon Valdez seem like a kiddy ride.
The news is filled with pictures of birds covered in oil, a look of terror and agony in their eyes. They’re too messed up to mind being picked up human hands.
Hey I’m always the one in the movies who doesn’t shed a tear when people get shot, but kick the dog and man.. I’m bawling like crazy.
All those millions of gallons of oil, oil, oil, killing everything under the sea and above it for miles…how do we ever get that back?
So here’s what I’m thinking, while we’re policing the world, and protecting liberty and all that, don’t you think we could also be perfecting the electric car, and solar heating and any other energy alternative.. so that after all is said and done, we can turn around to Saudi Arabia and say, “Oh you want to raise the price of oil..that’s fine..but you know we really don’t need it anymore. Why don’t you try to find another use for it, like..hmm perhaps a camel laxative?”

farmraised mo-fos
Okay so call me crazy, but after 10 weeks of non-stop catering hell…I’ve just decided to spend my first weekend off outa here.
Decided meaning I booked my trip yesterday and I’m leaving this morning.
It’s nothing too terribly exotic dearies just some place in Florida I’ve never been to with a spa, two pools, mineral baths and all the items required for 4 days of decadent rejuvenation.
Jacuzzi here I come!
I was supposed to go to Mexico but the shortest flight my travel chick could find was 6 hours and a long flight for a short trip don’t mix well for moi.
Anyway, I’m outa here.
This is all part of my now, well touted, “911..I will not postpone my life” campaign.
Meanwhile, after watching the entire country go Republican the other day, I need to hide in denial for awhile.
Not that Florida is the best place to go to avoid hearing or thinking about the Republican take-over.
While I admit to actually liking a few things the republicans have had to say this last year, (supporting Israel being number one) I am also really frightened that the Repubs sweeping the whole board like that might lead to a few rather lousy things.
The possible loss of our right to choose is up there in my &^%$# things that might happen if the Repubs get their way list.
The possible start of WW111 is another little item in my ^%$#@& uh oh list.
I’ve had a lot of folks ask me to jump on the “don’t fight Saddam” band-wagon and I have trouble joining up with them because, well because he’s such a shifty little mo-fo.
But at the same time, I’d sure like to see this country have a lot more world backing before it went after the jerk.
There’s also the little matter of wondering..just why is he so much worse then Saudi Arabia? Aren’t they the breeding ground for a nice chunk of the world’s jerks these days.
Sorta farm-raised you might say.
Get yer farm-raised terrorists…here.
Anyway I’m ranting when I should be packing.
Wish me luck all that soaking in the sun and getting massaged is gonna be so rough.
Hope we still have all our basic freedoms when I return.

the evil pickle
When it comes to politics I’m all screwed up.
I think I’m a liberal, but liberals don’t seem to be very pro-Israel these days.
I’m definitely a Democrat but umm ditto on the Israel subject.
I say I’m anti Bush..well I am anti-Bush..I HATE HIM!!! …but then again I sort of thought Al Gore was more conservative than your average Republican too…I mean hellooo warning labels on rock albums…
So..yeah I’m anti Bush, but to tell you the truth I’m having trouble understanding why it’s so bad to take out Saddam Hussein.
I mean that guy is so obviously sitting in his basement stirring up a Molotov cocktail of germs and nukes that you can practically smell the fumes.
Hell I’m not so sure you can’t smell the fumes.
Either that or it’s my socks..hmmm
I guess from where I’m at it seems there’s no question that he’s a danger and has to go it’s just the question of why now..and what aren’t we being told..
I get that we need U.N. support or it’s just America the big bad bully again and yeah, yeah, I get that we should try to dis-arm him before we try to blow him away.
But why didn’t we take him out when we had the chance last time.
And why do these guys seem to keep living; Osama, Saddam, Arafat??
Is there some truth to that expression only the good die young?
Does evil act as a preservative?
If so I’d like some evil pickles please.
Maybe I just have the political know-how of a sardine sandwich.
I do understand on some level that this whole country is run by folks who have a hidden agenda.
Is war good for votes…or bad?
Is Dubya fightng his war or his dad’s?
Is the only reason we haven’t blown Saddam away, because rich oily Arabs like him and we want them to like us?
Doesn’t anyone in politics just say it like it is?
Here’s what I think. Terrorism sucks.
Let’s get rid of it.
Let’s get rid of the jerks who do it and the jerks who finance it.
Then we can talk about which political side it was good for or bad for.
Meanwhile…what’s that smell?
