gay pride
happy gay pride ya'all
it was certainly a wet one (not that way you dirty babies)
here in nyc
went to the parade with the lovely J
and were hooting and hollering with the best of em
when a huge ass rain storm started up
wound up pressed against a building huddling
like eskimos
and then it stopped and started like that all damn day
by the time we got home
i had mildew between my toes
but honey
it did not damper the spirit of one and all
no matter how many great hairdos were ruined
actually i think the floats with the boys dancing in tightywhities
was rather enhanced by the rain, talk about transparent!
as one of the djs on one of the many floats said
today
we are all gay
and this was true
everyone seemed to join in the celebration
no matter how gay or straight
for just one day
we were all
the same
dancing and singing
and cheering
and celebrating
love
and wouldn't it be nice if that was everyday
oh what a dream

blondie
hey kids
had a wild night of true
nostalgia
i went out to red bank new jersey to see the blondie
30th anniversary concert
at the count basie theatre
and hooked up with fantastic pals i hung out with oh 28 years ago!
i had seen deborah harry sans blondie due a short stint at a cindy lauper concert a year ago
and debbie was sorta low energy socker momish
but not this night
united with chris stein, some new blondies
and the original drummer (forgot his name? mike r if you are reading this, you will know)
playing mostly her greatest hits
plus a few newbies

was rock on
blondie was rock on
but honey it was so funny to shake it up with audience filled with white hair
the devine annie my pal was a 16 year old again
shaking it up and ran up to the stage where she caught a high five by debbie
it was grand grand gran

it was just a nostalgic day
i went into jacks music store , the last time i was there
i was in the back buying bootleg punk rock 45's in brown paper sleeves
the sex pistols god save the queen i bought at jacks
this time no brown paper ..i bought a grace jones cd
oh how i used to love grace jones
still do
went to the kevin smith comic store
checked out elsies submarine sandwiches from my childhood
mom and i always shared the tuna fish sub
when we went to the arts center to watch the symphony rehearse
no wednesday afternoons
went by
mr pizza slice where we'd down slices and cokes to counteract
the bad home-grown we'd toked when i was in high school
just great

sex in the city
i saw SEX IN THE CITY the other night
and yes while I do agree that the movie was clearly made for all the fans of the TV show
and while I'm not sure someone who never saw the show would really get what we got out of it
I still loved the hell out if it
honey the movie just made me happy
i was happy all night after I left
and I went to see the movie with my

super mom, ruler of corporate america, with a house in brooklyn and an arty hubby...

im something of a Carrie, well a tomboy version of Carrie
minus the shoes, labels, cigarettes, zero body fat, whoring around and heterosexuality

actually many years before the TV show
i came across the Sex in the city column in the new york observer
and it made me literally green with jealousy
that column an open forum a free rant on Candice's life
was just what i wanted
that and the Fran Liebowitz columnn, the back page of interview magazine
in which she just ranted about whatever the fuck she wanted to
i was actually in the midst of bitching about my dream column
when the divine jill matrix set me up this web site
in which i could rant
and thats how i wound up here with you
but i digress
the movie made me happy
why?
well i'm a sucker for love
super, sappy, sucker for love
and i'm also a sucker for loving NYC
or at least what's left of it
now that its quickly being turned into BOSTON
the movie celebrates both
and it throws in camp, fun, great friendship, lots of sex
and many a killer cocktail
im fairly sure by the way, that i drank cosmos well before i saw carrie, samantha, charlotte and miranda drink them
but i, like many others will now think of the girls, like old friends, when i do down a cosmo
anyway
afterwards t and i went for really bad wine
and fairly lousy food at an outdoor eatery
and i watched the array of 20-something sex in the city etttes parade by
in very little clothing, high heels
trying oh so hard to seem like they were'nt trying
and i felt so happy
to be past all that
and well really to have never been there in the first place
just sitting outside
so comfortable in the moment
and in my own skin
that i didn't even send the lousy wine back
and sipped the acid laced glass of savingon blanc
like it was nector of the gods

food network
did i ever tell you all about the time i was on the food network
yep lil mis rossi
it was the sarah multon (forgot how to spell her name was that right?) show
called COOKING LIVE
they had a caterers special and decided to pair up the old money
traditional caterer "Tentation" and the new upstart boutique caterer MOI
as it turned out I knew the chef Jeffrey from tentation
id worked with him a kazillion years before when i was just starting out in the biz and liked the guy even if he was a little bit uptown while i was clearly a little more downtown..
what i hadnt quite prepared myself for was that the show was LIVE
bang zoom all of a sudden all cameras are on me and its ACTION
right then and there I felt what surely was bout to be ME vomiting on LIVE TV!!!
i quickly made a deal with GOD and somehow rode it thru
people called in and asked me questions that i was not prepped for
and thank (@*@*@((@)@)@) the lord above, i had great answers
I prepared Fenugreek crusted tuna and was told later on that i held the tuna
well... lets just say a bit sexually
no matter a little sexy tuna is always good for ratings
the old money tentation came out and prepared a traditional recipe ..i think it was quail in reduction sauce... (nice..yes...boring..yes...but that's what the old money crowd wants, nice, safe and boring..no wonder i get nose bleeds at 14th street)
anyway
the show was a hit
and im told they re-ran it a few times
i still hold tuna sexually
and have to visit my sister every few months
because of the deal i made with god so i would not vomit on national tv
but it was a great experience
the moral of this story you ask
hmm
well i guess there isn't any
just another little tid bit to tantalize you of the complex sauce

well with all the great news in california
i can only hope that this presidential election
the democrat obama will win
and then he will see to it that gay marriage finally becomes legal
admittedly i dont have a whole lotta faith that obama will make this happen
(you recall ive been a hillary fan)
but hes still a democrat
and with california going yay for gay
i gotta hope
the first president of color
would fight for equal rights
the lovely and eloquent charlotte

Obama has mentioned it a few times in primary acceptance
speeches.....And Hillary finally made a reference to the gay
community's quest for civil rights in her bye bye address....
As Hillary gets ready to campaign for Obama it should be
interesting to see if the Dems address our issues or just
continue to only fully support our community behind closed
doors....."

horse puppy
4 months ago
i became mommy number two to a puppy
cute you say
yes except when Miha
decided to get a puppy and make me mommy
he decided to get a great dane puppy
not just a great dane but the largest of all kinds
the puppies parents weigh more then rosanne barr
when we picked up the 8 week old grey and white harlequin darling at the airport
he was already 35 pounds
i quickly learned that a puppy is hard enough
but a puppy that grows quite literally one pound a day and by the time he was 4 months old was already 80 pounds
is more then hard
i had so many bruises folks started thinking i was downright kinky
greta is now calming down
a little
he is 6 months old
and 110 pounds
a few days ago i decided to go for a short run with the HORSE PUPPY
at some point
my feet left the ground
and it was like
greta was flying a blonde kite
then i landed
and honey
we are talking serious road rash here
i still can only use two fingers in my left hand
last night
the puppy greeted miha but jumping in the air
and his paw landed inside mihas eye
two hospital visits later
miha is on pain killers
looking like the last scene in dark victory as bette davis
says
the lights are growing dimmer now
oy friggen vey
here are the things i have learned you must not do with a HORSE PUPPY
you must never run while attached in anyway to the puppy
i dont care if its jogging or
what have you
dog owners of normal size dogs can do this
but dog owners of small horses can not
you must never let the horse puppy jump up on you
or you will land on your ass
with a 110 horse sitting on you
you must never let your face or any body part you care about be underneath the mouth of the horse puppy
or said body part will be covered in thick murkey acidic drool
that frankly gives me a rash
i went on a day trip with the horse puppy
and when i came back i looked like i was raped by a 500 pound snail
honey we are talking DROOL!
you must never let the horse puppy anywhere near anything small you care about
jewelry
bottle caps
spoons
the hope diamond
or you will not see said item again
until you clean it up off the sidewalk
okay granted normal size puppies do this too
but speaking of poop
cleaning up after a horse puppy
is not for the faint of heart
it requires a bulldozer!
i wont even go any further on this subject
use your imagination
im planning on buying a saddle for the puppy
and selling rides to the kids in the hood for a buck
this may help pay mihas hospital bill
or mine
in any case

what a night i had
at radio city music hall
the cindy lauper true colors tour for human rights-gay rights
i went last year
but this year was more amazing
the cliks were rocking when we showed up
then came the indigo girls who ive always wanted to see in concert
kate clinton
rosie odonnell
margaret chau
dont ask me if i spelled all these names right
then came
the band ive been dying to see in concert
since i was in high school
27 years later
the B52's rocked the house
and they were amazing
we were up and screaming and dancing
thousands of us
then
the goddess
a true rock star

herself
she just held us in the palm of her hands
a legend
a magical adorable lady
with the voice of a goddess
this morning my voice is gone
my hips hurt from shaking
my hands from clapping
and i opened my computer to find out
hillary had lost
obama won
no surprise of course
but with all the plugging and winning she was still doing
i was still hoping for a miracle
that woman proved true spunk
no matter what you think about her
is america ready for a black president?
we shall see
im bummed as hell that the candidate is not hillary
but i sure still want to see the republican machine
that has caused the destruction of thousands of lives
and countless freedoms

letting go
ive been thinking about this expression lately
let go and let god
yeah i know its a big part of the 12-step program
but whether or not you're in a 12-step program
it's a great way to live your life
if you can take it in and believe
it
i started saying it quietly to myself
awhile ago
maybe a year ago
maybe less
when i was frightened
when i was angry
when i was sad, frustrated
all the lovely emotions we don't enjoy
and i didn't feel it
didn't take it to heart
but saying it
was like taking a breath
and hey
it didn't hurt
but lately
i've come to find out
that there is power in words
and saying something out loud or quietly
every day
does change your world
and i am
letting go
and letting god
realizing that i can't change the world
just changing the little bits that i can
and letting the universe take over the rest
and honey
its a big ass break let me tell you
running the world was getting exhausting
