the silence of a golden voice
Jeff David
died yesterday
well in truth he was probably gone a week ago when he suffered a massive heart attack walking in the west village
but true to his wishes he donated all that could be used of himself
so yesterday his organs went to save maybe 4 other lives
something that I hope he knows wherever he is
I'm sure wherever good people go that is where he is
because i never met anyone better then jeff and don't expect to
I was lucky enough to know him
to listen to his powerful deep (james earl jones eat your heart out)
voice that was listened to widely on many a television voice-over
and book on tape
i was lucky enough to be cared about by him
to be adored
loved
and to jokingly, but not really, call him and his fantastic wife alex
my other parents
over the years on college graduation
at art openings
for my 40th birthday
for all those kinds of occasions you might want to have family present
alex and jeff were there
i met them thru my room-mate hillary 20 years ago
and when hillary who i adored and still do
moved away
oddly enough
i and hill's mom alex and her step-dad jeff stayed in touch
it was a gift that i will always cherish
jeff was one of those guys who's eyes were often wet with kindness
he was 67 when he passed away
but still vibrant
and charming
and well
sexy
yes he and alex
plainly put
in their 60's
still in love
and sexy as hell
what more can you ask for
true love
i do believe that people stick around for a little bit after they go
and so i know that jeff saw his loving family and friends
hover around him
adoring him
re-calling him
being mad as hell that he left so soon and so suddenly
of course
being a jew
ive already started to roll in the
i should have called more
i should have visited more
yada yada GUILT
but i know too
that kind
understanding
and smart as hell jeff
knew how much i loved him
and still do
and didn't hold it against me that i didn't see him and alex all the time
just that the connection was there when i did
and it always was
he leaves behind a great legacy
a voice that will be heard for many years on tape
on film
on tv
a family that will tell tales of his fabulousness for the rest of their years
and one
messy, curly hair, sometimes ditsy blonde bimbo
who shared no blood with him
but lots of heart
who will cherish the blessing of him
for as long as she lives
Rock on jeff david
wherever you are
you will not be forgotten

puppy love
hey kids
let me tell you about the 3,000 pound puppy i have become
mommy number two to
im sure many of you will know full well what im talking about
we had a dog when i was a kid
but i was 6 when we got scout
and i think 10 when he ran away forever
he lived in the backyard
he was a medium sized mutt
filthy
un-fixed
and probably never doggy trained since he lived outside
i loved him anyway
even if i did have to wash my hands everytime i pet him
when my dear lovely everything friend miha
decided to get a great dane puppy
to which he would be full time daddy
and i would be part time mommy
i thought how fun
how cute
how adorable
well...
greta
arrived at the airport
he was 8 weeks old
flown in from his breeder in arkansas
he was already more then 30 pounds
BIG PUPPY
he was scared and adorable
and miha held him the whole ride home
and we pet him and loved him
and he was overwhelmed
and just so cute
then
2 days later
greta got comfortable...
he began to bite
growl
pee and poop on everything in sight
miha bent down to scoop up gretas poop
and he bit miha in the ass
it was not at all what i expected
then came time
to leash train greta
he was 3 months old
the vet said his shots were done and he could go out
well normally a 3 month old dog
is easy
it pulls
you pull back
but greta at three months old
was 60 pounds
and already bigger then most dogs
he pulled
your feet left the air
thanks to miha's experience, he'd had a great dane before
and swears they mellow out once they are grown
and his deligence
and an expert dog trainer who lives in the building
g-man pitching
in
and a training collar
the pulling is getting better
the day
greta was allowed in the thompkins park dog run
life got better
miha didn't have to run so much anymore
and on my part time shift
i could just let him in and sit down and watch
like a furry tennis game
he could play and run free
the problem is
several rough cut home-boys seem to take delight
in bringing their agressively trained pit bulls
into the dog park
to eat
i mean play with
what im sure they think are
the yuppie dogs
greta is not a yuppie dog
he is the dog of a hard working chef
and the part time dog of another hard working chef-ette
one of the pitt bulls, (i don't have anything against pitt bulls, just the trainers) bit greta over his eye
we no longer feel thrilled with the Thompkins square park dog run
greta is now 4 months old
he is kept very clean by his daddy but still smells
often
and a lot, some musky stinky puppy smell
that can only be washed off your hands with scented palmolive
his teeth are coming in
so he drools over everything
i spent a day with him
and it looked like i was raped by 1,000 snails
he is 71 pounds
and oh yeah
as it turns out
im allergic to him!
but
yes the but is coming..
he is so cute
he is smoke gray and white
with two different colored eyes
and ridiculously huge paws that
he will grown into
he is playful
and affectionate
and
so funny
so interested in everything
and he just melts your heart
they say he may reach 180 to 200 pounds when full grown
i pray the leash training sets well in by then
im thinking to buy whatever they scoop up horse poop with too
as a gift for miha
in the meanwhile
i started lifting weights again
so i can keep up with him
the other day miha admitted
he's planning on getting another one

asbury babes
hey kids
i got my tuchas out to asbury park this weekend
to check on my sista
and then have a gals night out with my fantastic friends
from way back in the early 80's when i was just a tendy teenybopper
the divine websy, the sublime jade-lauren, the delish drushka
and we just drank and ate our way up and down cookman avenue
it was fabu my dears
and just amazing how people you have seen a handful of times
in the last 20 something years
can still feel so comfy and exciting
without skipping a beat
asbury is still building
up
even while the real estate in the u.s. is coming down
they did tear down my beloved metropolitan hotel
which somehow i had hoped against hope
they could save
but it had fallen into too much ruin
i, like a lot of asbury fans
hope they save as much as can be
of the old architecture
so far the new stuff
looks about as appealing as a dressed up million dollar condo strip mall
but im still happy to see asbury climbing from the dust
lou reed is coming to town in april
eddy money too
lots of the old rockers
find their way back to asbury
its got soul
they call it a city
i call it a town
but whatever you call it
its got something you can bite into
and for a new yorker
thats everything
to the great gals of the jersey shore
webs
drushka
lauren
and annie- who was sicky-poo and couldn't come
but next time
i say
we are all still fierce
fetching and full of fire
hear us roar!

The Spitz Spritz
Lordy no wonder I want to see Hillary in office
I’m just sick and tired of penises in government
We had Clinton who I adore screw up his last two years in office
Because he couldn’t keep his pickle away from chubby interns which fed right into the Repubs witch hunt, woulda made Salem jealous.
We had McGreevy who couldn’t keep his pickle away from his chubby interns too..male ones..
Now we have New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer who just resigned due to the prostitution scandal that the former prosecutor who specialized in shutting down prostitution rings got snagged in.
Shouldn’t being born male come with some sort of warning label???
Penises are a dangerous weapon
Keep sheathed until absolutely necessary and then use only when
Under the supervision of an adult.
Sheesh.
Grow up Spitzer!
Course this is all the right wing conservative yahoos need, I can hear their screams already. The dems are immoral. The dems can’t keep their pants zipped!
Well honey lots of repubs had problems with their pants too.
And frankly I’d still take Spitzer over GW Bush Junya anyday as Junya, did all his pants un-zipping all over Iraq at a cost of trillions of dollars and thousands of lives.
Anyway, right about now, I think we’re do for less testosterone and more estrogen in office.

HIll back at the plate
so my chick hillary clinton
is back in the game
proving yet again
that to underestimate a powerful woman
is a big ass mistake
she'd taken ohio when i crashed last night
and naysayers were saying she couldnt pull texas
she'd nabbed texas before i woke up
and the obama camp
was scratching their head
thinking
yeah
i guess we shoulda spent more time with the hispanics
my babe charlotte
over at outtake (see linkie love list)
had a lot to say on the subject
heres a little snippet
from Outtake
"
Our debt is in the billions. We have a war raging in Iraq with
no end in sight. The foreclosures are skyrocketing & oil's @ an
all time high making gas prices obscene. Which candidate can
dig us out of this mess?? The only candidate with the experience,
the know how & the passion....Let experience rein... :)"
and i guess thats how i feel too
i dont have anything against obama
he seems like a good guy
certainly has charisma
and i have the feeling his heart in the right place
and he clearly wants out of iraq
and yes
were he to take the democratic nomination
i would support him
but hillary is seasoned
she's got the experience in and of the white house
she knows what's in store for her in the first 6 months
she's not a babe in the woods
and i feel she has the strength to build back the economy
make healthcare affordable
and get us the fuck out of iraq without compromising
our safety
im not saying that obama can not do those things
but his lack of experience
doesn't leave me with a warm comfortable feeling
everytime i ask someone what they like about him
they say
hes a new face for change
hes a positive energy
but i say
yes
but what exactly has he done
i know you like what he says he will do
its just not comforting
and i do think this is a race issue
i simply do not think
obama would have gone this far in the running for president
if he were white
not with his level of experience
i dont fault anyone for voting for him because he is black
after all the many horrific years of racism in this country
for many seeing a person of color in the white house
would be as sweet a victory as there could be
and quite honestly after all the years of horrific sexism in this country
and around the world
voting for hillary because she is a woman
and seeing a woman in the white house for many would also be as sweet a victory as there can be
for me
a triple minority
seeing anyone who is not a white christian man
in the white house would be a sweet victory
but i do try to put this aside
and think about what would as my friend marilyn said
make me feel the safest
anyway
im glad hill
is back at the plate
hit a home run girl
