I've been reading Arianna Huffington Just a fabulous all round babe I say..and amazingly she and I do not see eye to eye on many a thing...so this is not the "I like her cause she agrees with me thing.." Anyhows if you haven't had a chance yet go check out her blog. I've added her to my linkie love list so just scroll down to Arianna. I was really intriqued by what she wrote about the Schiavo case.. So I'll just quote her right here.. "If the Republicans insist on making the “culture of life” a federal issue, the Democrats should, by all means, let them. But they need to make sure that the national debate doesn’t center on tragic anomalies like the Schiavo case but on the thousands of people whose lives are cut short because they lack access to decent health care or on the prolonged suffering of the millions of children living in poverty. Instead of allowing themselves to be cowed by the fear of looking like they’re coming down on the immoral side of the moral values debate, Democrats should snap out of it and demand that the president interrupt his next vacation and that Bill Frist hold another midnight session of Congress to address the moral disgrace of 45 million people with no health insurance and 36 million people living in poverty. This is the only way to reclaim the moral high ground."

I was sitting at my local Cuban joint yesterday, picking at a churasco steak salad, sorta my Latin-Atkins thing, when the owner.. my pal Manny screamed, “Have you heard the news! Another Tsunami is coming!” It was just too terrible to fathom. All that unprecedented death and horror. Those poor people just beginning to put their lives together and another cruel joke from the universe racing their way.. I heard later on, that the tsunamis had not come and at first felt a sign of relief. Then the death tolls began. I believe there are 2,000 reported dead in Indonesia as I write this. The image of panic stricken people running for their lives, people searching through rubble to find their loved ones. It’s all so terribly, horribly familiar now. This killer earthquake, an 8.7 erupted.. piercing through the first waves of peace and recovery from a stricken land and covering it with pain and anguish, death and loss. Just three months after the “Killer Waves” decimated so many, many, lives. How could whatever higher power it is that controls the universe be so cruel? I can’t imagine the terror that must have raced through the hearts of these people when the first warnings of another tsunami were in effect. Posttraumatic stress in full swing. “Here we go again,” so many must have cried. I will not even pretend to understand or fathom how so many must have felt. What I understand is this massive earthquake happened on the same fault line as the one in December that triggered the terrible Tsunamis. I can only hope, that this fault line is done with its rampage. 174,000 people were killed on Dec. 26. To add to this death toll, three months later, is just a sadness that is beyond reason. I only hope that peace, serenity and an end to bad times comes to these people and comes soon. I sit here in my warm apartment; safe, dry and comfortable. I think I will cease to bitch about anything today. What, do I really have to complain about? Turn on the news right now and then ask yourself…what do you really have to complain about? Mostly because I wanted to understand a little bit more about the background of the case before I did so. My general feeling about cases when someone is in a vegetative state is that it’s best to let them go peacefully rather then drag them thru years of hell here on earth. But, of course, if there is a chance they can be brought from that state, that’s another story too. Generally I also side with the spouse on this one, because in every long term relationship I have ever had and even some of the short ones, I have always known the wishes of my lover far more and better then her parents have. If this were to have happened to my most recent ex..I know full well that she would want to be let go. She has made me promise that on several occasions. I also know full well that her mother would fight to her dieing breath to keep her alive and consider it an abomination against Jehovah that I was letting her go. Of course this would have been a case that would never have wound up with the mileage of the Schiavo case because this country would not have let the grieving spouse in a gay relationship have those rights, but that’s another story. My own brother has started sending me emails, calling the removal of Terri’s tube to be a crime against god and a public murder. He, a long time critic of the Bush Family, is now sending them letters telling George and Jeb that they are doing holy work by trying to save this woman. He feels on behalf of the Jewish religion that this is an attack on everything holy. I have rarely seen this kind of outrage come from my little brother. My pal Nancy, of Matrixland (see linkie love this) had perhaps the smartest thing to say about this which was, that we all being made privy to a very private situation. This is the husbands business, not ours. It should not have become a public spectacle. She went on to say, “Every day families do this. The real shame is that you can't show your wife the same mercy as you'd show your cat.” So here’s what I understand about Terri’s background in a nutshell. ** Several doctors, including those appointed by the courts, have pronounced her to be in a "persistent vegetative state". However Terri parents hired doctors that claim that Terri has a consciousness. Her husband, Michael Schiavo sought for years to remove the feeding tube and allow Terri “die naturally”. In other words to starve to death. Now the legal battle seems to be over. Here we are today. Many people do not believe she will live thru Easter Weekend. There are protesters outside her hospice who claim that this happening over Easter Weekend is not a coincidence. They see something Christ like in the removal of her feeding tube. Terri’s fate has become a religious battleground and a political battleground with outrage from both sides. Her husband who feels he is acting on behalf of what his wife wanted, is being called a murderer and perhaps, the rest of this life may be ruined by this stigma. I think Terri’s husband should have the right to decide this matter. I do not think you can make blanket statements that removing a feeding tube is a murder. I think these matters have to be done in a case-by-case basis and in this case, was it 28 judges? Or some such number ruled in favor of letting Terri go. I think the large discussion here is what is life and of course this ties into all the huge red button issues today like stem cell research and abortions. What is your feeling about the Terri Schiavo Case? I would really like to know.

Well dears FYI on other news interesting dont ya think? just a little FYI there.. anyway adios Tuesday, March 22
My first thought reading the news about yesterday’s high school shooting Then I read about how the shootings occurred at an American Indian Reservation..and I felt another part of my heart sink..the part that has heard countless times about the poverty and the strife on the reservations of this country.. I began to read the news not sure which part of my heart would feel torn. The security guard, dead…a teacher…dead…6 students…and the gunman…dead…over a dozen others wounded…. But our gunman didn’t start his day killing at school.. Reading about the deadliest shooting since Columbine…so many questions come to mind.. How did the boy get the guns? A shotgun and a hand gun. Why did he do it? What was his life like on the Minnesota reservation? Did the poverty and the unemployment of the reservation play a roll? Did the cruelty of high school kids play a role? I imagine all this will un-fold as so many people searching for an answer start to question everyone around this boy. But all I can see is …more kids dead….more guns…being made available to kids…. I wonder what Charleton Heston…is doing today?
Sunday, March 20 The Right Wing Anti Poster Girl
Often when it comes to things political He’s sorta my own personal …google on a lotta issues Another think I love about Gus is that he is willing to lash out at things he hates about the Dems as well as the Republicans…which makes his opinions all the more valuable.. Now…of course, it’s no secret how I feel about this administration, just read the preceding post or a whole bunch of other ones.. but I’ve also been extremely curious to see what it is that so many people like about George Junior…because every single person I talk to on any kind of regular basis, including about 90% of my clients just hates the guy... full on hate, but then I’m a New Yorker… Reading thru the many comments on my “George Bush Challenge” post I was first struck with the same thing that always happens whenever I post anything against Bush…a wave of anger. That is not to say liberals are not capable of angry ranting as well. I've experienced that first hand in response to my 100% pro-Israel position...but it sure has happened that every time I have ever had the Chutzpah to come out and say exactly how I feel about the baby bush, the back lash is pretty friggen rude. Let me tell you ...the ones I deleted weren’t even human. So here’s what I’m willing to concede about the baby bush…no one person can ever be held accountable for the economy…but certainly the tax cuts for the rich and the service cuts for the poor did not fair well, nor did the billions he has spent in Iraq and if you scroll back to my war time rants, you will see that I was not exactly against going to war, but I was totally against going to war on a lie and without the U.N. and without proving why and without having a plan and so on and so on. As to the Patriot Act, a good pal just told me that her library records had come back to haunt her …Then I got to thinking of how my life is affected on a daily basis by this. Just last night, I waited in line an hour to go into the Holland Tunnel because no one in my van wanted to get the Easy Pass which would get us thru the tunnel in 10 minutes but put our goings on in the easy to track files.for the CIA or whoever else.. Gus had this to day on the subject of the patriot act.. I also quoted a few posts back from Matrixland on the subject of loss of privacy which is pretty much what the Patriot Act means to me. “Loss of privacy.” As to the subject of social security… I am not saying social security doesn’t need help…I’m saying I certainly haven’t heard George Bush say anything that shows me he knows what he’s talking about or how to help Social Security and having been someone who has privately invested with the supposed best advisors and lost my shirt..I have some very real and justifiable fear in what will happen to this money.. I know Republicans are not fond of anything that reeks of socialism and maybe they feel social security is just that and needs to be privatized. but what happens if everyone loses their shirt like really, most green folks do in the stock market…and then come crying to the government when they’re old and broke…we certainly will not be able to let them starve on the street… Gus’s point on this subject was.. “He (bush) grossly overstates the problems and his proposed solution doesn’t even address those problems. He wants to borrow money to set up a parallel system, so folks won’t mind so much when the old one gets busted up.” And Mike…as always you crack me up…The Right Wing anti-poster girl…..sure seems so…but you know I’d rather be that, then The Right Wing poster girl..or worse yet. The girl afraid to voice her opinion.. Anyway..as always, I invited diversity here on Rossirant..so leave your comments below…but I do ask you to try and get your point across with some amount of good behavior because if you don’t I will delete you and then no one will read whatever it was you were trying to say. Oh as to church and state…What we’ve got is a real deal born again boy in the white house I’ve definitely had the feeling, as have a whole lotta others that the baby bush thinks he’s being divinely inspired… Forget about the environment! Just out of curiosity has there ever been a president worse for the environment?? I’d really like to know on that one. There was one comment I really have to mention and speaking of comments JR…when you do comment in English and in a space that can be read in a few paragraphs, not the mile long scroll down of the last post..I often find what you have to say interesting. I rarely agree with you, are most often annoyed by you but you do often manage to get your point across which I would imagine is really the purpose of these forums isn’t it? Since only a few of you touched on the environment.. Friday, March 18
Okay I put this out to JR after my Jimmy Carter post awhile back I have a few GWBush loving...folks who like to comment on my site Obviously a whole lotta people in this country love the guy so here's my challenge. tell me 10 great things about George Bush as president.. i await your comments come on cause i surely must be missing something here now then 1) he is against a women's right to choose there thats the first 10 that popped into mind anyway i want to hear em Wednesday, March 16
well its certainly hard to feel sorry for scott peterson so no tears for scotty poo but i have to say i do kinda feel sorry for michael jackson right now i remember watching the documentary with the boy in question my guess is that Michael feels he is a little boy, he never grew up, has no interest in sex with grown ups..he's a very little boy i dont see him as a butt man is what im saying..here to be blunt i don't know what happened to michael there is, of course, the possibility that he is completely innocent watching the horrifying transformation of michael from handsome black man i know some of you may think jackson does not deserve symphathy i guess we shall see what happens to the jacko next it doesn't look good Tuesday, March 15
zippity doo da Tuesday, March 15, 2005 Supporters liken California decision to its repeal on interracial marriage ban in the '40s Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer in Monday's ruling likened the ban on same-sex marriage to laws requiring racial segregation, and said there appears to be "no rational purpose" for denying marriage to gay couples. Interestingly, in 1948, California was the first state to strike down a ban on interracial marriage. Of course, the usual suspects plan an immediate appeal of the landmark ruling. "This is a crazy ruling by an arrogant San Francisco judge who apparently hates marriage and the voters," says Randy Thomasson, executive director of the Sacramento-based Campaign for California Families, to whom we say, takes one to know one. thanks queerday So three cheers for the California Superior Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage well here's how i stand on gay marriage but here we are today its 2005 the new scape-goat is not vote for bush put god back in the white-house save our children from the damn queers! you know and honey it's pretty much like saying no It's 2005

once in awhile i read something on someone's site she says..
I have an ordinary life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There is nothing remarkable about me. On an average weekday, I'm on a security camera on the bus, in the lobby and in the elevator of my building, and I'm not sure where else within my actual office. I pass through two checkpoints to get into my office, and I don't work at the CIA. If I use my debit card to pay for my bus tickets, the police can trace where I went and when from the bar codes on the tickets. They might subpoena a list of the movies I rented or the books I checked out of the library. Or they could just hit TiVo with a court order and see what I've watched and recorded for the last two years. My VoIP company can probably provide you with sound files of my voicemail, if you're interested, not to mention a recap of everyone I've called and been called by. ...
