FEAR KNOT

do you ever get the feeling that Osama ben Laden
is holed up in the basement of the white house
on the bush payroll?

i mean first we have possibly the least popular
president any one has seen since Nixon's final days
cheat the popular vote
and cheat the vote entirely if you go by the last counting
hmmm
and quite literally steal the white house

the country is divided
few think the baby bush knows what hes doing
the boy seems to spend all his days on vacation

then
comes "911"
and while guiliani is digging in the dirt
and folks all around the country are running to NYC to help out
while house wives
are donating blood
the baby bush is no where to be found

then VOILA
the baby bush emerges
stands in the rubble of a huge ass photo opp
says
we will get them "dead or alive"
denounces the "evil doers"
and rides a nation's fear all the way up the flag pole
to become a very popular little boy

now here we are
a few days before election
at least half the country is thinking
hmm maybe the baby bush
is making us LESS safe not more
at least half the country is thinking
hmmm
maybe the baby bush is taking away too much of what we love America for
and
VOILA
Osama goes public
to instill a huge does of fear into the nation once again

will a nice chunk of that half against bush now think
ooo maybe we're safer keeping the same one in office no matter who he is
then bringing in anyone new..??

who knows
but you gotta admit the timing is creepy

now before i get a huge slew of comments here from righties
and conservative lefties
and who-ever

i dont really think osama is on the bush payroll
but he sure has done more for the bush camp
then anyone on the payroll

fear is a terrible thing
and it should never be used
to brainwash a nation

i was once told
never do anything based on fear
never avoid something out of fear and
likewise
never go full on to confront something based on fear

decisions based on fear are the wrong way to make a decision

do not vote
based on your fears

vote based on your mind
and your heart
and your senses

vote based on who you are inside
not who you are told to be

it's your vote

ROCK ON BASEBALL BOYS

okay
i don't know kreplach about sports
especially baseball
and quite honestly i've always thought next to
perhaps pool
baseball is the most madly boring game in the universe
but i have to admit
even this ol sports hating, skipped gym for two years claiming i had a broken toe,
babe
not to use the word babe at the moment but
yeah
even this babe
is warmed that the red sox broke their 86 year long curse

i can't even imagine how the red sox are feeling right now
to tell you the truth
the only baseball team i ever liked were the yankees
and i think thats just because when i was little girl
i heard that was the team that the babe hit for
but for now
even though i didn't watch the world series
even though you couldn't pay me enough to watch the world series
im thrilled for the red sox
thrilled for their fans
thrilled
and honeys if there was a curse
its surely broken

so rock on boys!

Iraq and Vietnam, not so far apart ?

I know that right wingers get pretty pissed off when you compare Iraq to Vietnam
but lately i've been feeling some Vietnam de ja vus
you see i was born in the mid 60's so my first real understanding of Vietnam didn't happen until the 70's, until Vietnam was at that stage where it was just dragging on and on and often folks were just like
shit, isn't this over yet
are we really still there
thats the feeling ive been getting about Iraq
and no, not nearly the time frame of Vietnam
but that feeling of
are we really still getting our asses blown off over there?
I just read about the un-armed new Iraq recruits coming back with their first pay
from training
to be shot in the head, face down in the dirt
helpless and innocent
american soldiers are still getting killed
it doesn't feel like peace is coming any time soon
billions and billions of dollars gone
does Iraq love us for liberating us?
honey
do you feel loved?
I think we woulda been a hell of a lot better off
finding some other way
but now that we are there
we have to finish what we started
we cant just walk off and leave a big mess to turn into another Taliban
oasis
or some such thing
but what a high price
so many lives
so many billions that could have saved so many lives

my pal Gus wrote in his very excellant comic strip
when one of his characters compared Iraq to Vietnam
"There's a big difference...Bush Avoided Vietnam"

thanks for the humor in the face of all this crap Gus

as for me
I think I've gotta say again
given the choice of the president who never really saw action
but has no qualms sending us in ill prepared to war
and the one who is a war hero but brave enough to speak out against the same war he served in
i'd go for the brave war hero
not the
impatient coward
what say you?

GAY REPUBLICAN?

Ok
I gotta ask
Can anyone out there tell me
what sense it makes to be a gay Republican?
Cause I'm stumped.
Isn't that a bit like being an African American member of the KKK?

Recently I had a perplexing conversation with a new friend
who is an extremely upwardly mobile, educated
gay boy extraordinare
so natch i thought we'd bond about politics
both being smart
savy
and queer
although i wear leather
and he wears LLBEAN
and that maybe shoulda tipped me off a tad
anyway
he came out as very PRO Bush
and no not the good kind
so i said "he wants to amend the constitution to deny you the right to marry your boyfriend"
and he said "Yeah but that can't happen"
and I said "He wants to make abortion illegal"
and he said "Yeah but that can't happen"

and i said
so you will vote for him because the bad things
he wants, can't happen, no matter how hard he trys??

I've heard this before from gay republicans
they will support bush
because the truly anti gay
anti freedom
issues he is fighting to land
most likely won't come thru
but instead
as both of the gay republicans i know
are rather in the moolah
he is good for the yuppie way
good for the over 200k crowd

and so on

i don't know
money's great
and im all for it
but not when it comes to
turning my back on principles and freedom
and human rights
and dignity

but then
thats just me

Paul Hamm is my Man AGAIN

Lordy Lordy
Paul Hamm must be feeling like he just swung off those bars again
right about now
To be the comeback kid of the olympics
and win the all round gold shortly after falling flat out on his tuchas
was just such an inspiring sight
and has there ever been a more all American looking boy
or more All American looking twins for that matter
then came all the controversy
and a big ass dark cloud over his hard earned battle
but no more
today Paul gets to keep his medal
I only hope all the controversy hasn't overshadowed his victory
his experience and his chance for some great sponsorship money
anyway
i like Paul
and now Im thrilled for him
cause after all the crapolah
he gets to keep his medal
and to the south koreans
i say
sour grapes are not a sexy thing
from any country
just my opinion and im sticking to it

congrats Pauly Poo
and rock on

Asbury Park beats Bush

what the world needs now is
love sweet love
its the only thing worth thinking offffffffff
except of course
for war,
the election
un-employment
poverty
AIDS
no flu shot
discrimination
racism
sexism
homophobia
anti-semitism
anti-Israelism that covers up what really so often is anti-semitism
and of course
countless hours dedicated to the pondering of Donald Trump's hair
but i digress

I got out of Manhattan for a night to go out to Asbury Park New Jersey
which as many folks know was a dead town now on its way to coming back to life

I have watched the rise and fall and rise of many citys and towns in my life and considering that im still a young babe thats a lot to say

watching the demise of Asbury Park was a truly sad thing for me
watching it come back to life
spurred on by the gay community
is a truly exciting and inspiring thing to watch

of course i want to, and may be, a part of it..in some way

the first sexy SOHO style gallery opened up in a former
dark little hell hole of a basement

condos are sprouting out of long abandoned buildings
drug addicts are leaving
young parents
and hipster gays are arriving

whats really cool is that the white gay boys are working hand in hand
with the hispanic and African American heterosexual community
to re-vitalize the small city, (town?)
its a cool thing to watch
people who normally would have nothing to say to each other
walking across barriers to work together

I watched
a GUPPIE from Jersey City
shake hands and work side by side with a Haitian father surrounded by a loud and mostly old world family
what did they have in common? they both spoke French
and they'd both invested in Asbury Park

course its not all roses
in ASBURY
many folks are pretty damn pissed off
about having their property declared "eminent domain"
which i thought could only be done if you were right smack dab in the middle of what was gonna be a highway
but what NJ decided means you're right in the middle of the saving of a blighted city
so not all happy and for good reason
and of course most of the exitment in Asbury is about money
but still
i like it
i like seeing the city rise
i like seeing burnt out homes brought back to life
i like knowing the gorgeous boardwalk which had its heyday in the 1920s is being saved
i like it

it was nice to take a break from Bush and his anti-semitic
anti-freedom
stance
to see folks working hand it hand to save a city
was a nice break
maybe some of the asbury park folks
could take over the country too
cause hand in hand.. all races, religions, sexual preferences
we do need to stick together
don't we?

we are born EQUAL

I got a comment on my last post from Randy
who always leaves thought provoking comments
thanks Randy
any way
randy said this
"The question the commentator asked Bush: "Is homosexuality a choice?" And Bush said, "I don't know. I really don't know." So if he doesn't know, HOW DOES HE HAVE THE AUDACITY TO ASK FOR A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO BAN GAY MARRIAGE?!?"
and you know Randy
thats an excellant question and one I'm surprised more people have not commented on
the whole gay issue has been very interesting in this election
you have Dubya who is trying to land himself a position in heaven
and a whole lotta right wing voters by going full hog against gay marriage
then you have Dick (satan) Cheney who's little girl is a dyke
who has made many not so veiled efforts to be the good guy on the gay thing
so maybe you know the queers will vote republican
and even though he paraded his lesbo daughter and butch lover
on stage
gets offended when anyone calls her a lesbian?
also noteworthy that the only real spike up in cheney's debate was when he was talking on gay marriage and being rather softy on the issue

then you have the democratic camp
neither Kerry nor Edwards has come out as pro gay marriage
both say marriage should be between a man and a woman
cause both want to get elected
but at least the two-some
are against taking this away from a state wide level
and against amending the constitution
which means
nice little girls can marry girls
and boys can marry boys
in Mass
and any other state that has the balls
to fight for the love that dares to call its name

so now then
to the baby bush
hey georgie poo
if you dont know if gay is a choice
then you're saying
folks just might well be born gay
and have no choice
then you're also saying
but i damn well won't let them marry cause the lord is a watching me
or lordy
i must christianish this sodom and gamora (did I spell that right>?)
country
or loose my rightful place
at your side in the after life
and as the messiah of the right wing world
oh lawdy doo dooo

hang on
i think i have to puke

Wednesday, October 13

The Little Bush Monster

saw the last debate
as im sure you folks did too
looks like the baby bush got a whole lotta schooling on how not to skowl
or slouch
but not on how not to look dopey eyed into the camera
anyway
aside from the fact that i full on can't stand this man
now
even more then i could not stand this man a week ago
i got a big pet peeve with the baby bush which is
that this man just can not answer a question
shit he does more dancing
then john travolta before the body fat

anyway
look folks what it comes down to is this
maybe you are Christian
maybe you are religious
maybe you are conservative
maybe you're even a born-again Christian conservative
but do you really think the president of the United States should be imposing his religious beliefs on the whole country?
do you really?
i mean we might as well go back to the Spanish Inquisition if thats the case
I am a woman
this is my body not yours
how dare you legislate my uterus
based on your religious views!

I am gay.
How dare you attempt to amend the constitution of this country
to ban my rights to marry a woman!

I am free.
How dare you chip and chip and chip away at my fundamental rights of liberty!

No sir
I do not want 4 more years of George W. Bush
and I have a feeling that if this country is ignorant enough, foolish enough
plain old stupid enough to re-elect this little demon
we will all be crying in a few years
that is of course, if we're all still here in a few years

BRING ON THE GROWN UPS

Howdy folks
sorry not to post sooner
but i was so knee deep in catering hell that i felt like the inside of a tuna roll
but i digress
course i saw the debate NATCH
and although the baby bush was coached into not skowling
he still was edgy nervous and beyond defensive
kerry was still together, calm and poised
but all that aside
here are some special moments i'd like to take note of
did you catch when GW said
I wadn't (fake texas accent for wasn't) happy when they didn't find weapons of mass distruction..
What the hell does that mean?
He basically said he was not happy that the weapons were not there
he would have preferred that weapons of mass distruction be found
and lord knows what frightening significance that would have meant
and he be proven right
no weapons- safer for the world
but he was proven wrong
that was what we yankees call a major slip up
what about towards the end of the debate when the woman asked him to talk about a few things he did wrong
and the baby bush could not do it
he could not admit anything he had done was wrong
except for the snide comment about the people he would now like to skapegoat
the truth is
George W Bush would rather kill thousands of American troops
then admit he was or is wrong
he is ruling this country on pure ego
and honeys if i had to do a quick penis size guess here
i'd say the bigger the bark
the smaller the well..bark
if you know what i mean

then right after john kerry gives what i would call one of the best answers i've heard about abortion
saying although he was an alter boy and is a catholic
he will not submit this country to his own religious beliefs
hence
our bodies our choices
we have the baby bush stand up and pretty much say
he'll do just about anything he can to stop abortion
translation
im a good little christian and I'll be damned if I let any babies
or embryos get killed on my watch
however all the grown ups can get blown up
as long as its firmly understand that im not wrong

listen dears
i dont think john kerry has all the answers
and i don't know if he will be a great president
but you know what
the same thing the bush camp keeps accusing him of
flip flopping
is also probably the best thing you can say about the man
he's willing to change his mind
to admit a mistake
to listen
to alter
to change course
if it can be proven to him that the first idea was wrong

john kerry has been to war
he's seen his friends get killed
hes done some killing
and he came back
not a blood thirsty man
but a man who knows the price
of war
he is not afraid to defend America
but hes smart enough to know that we are not more safe
when we become, as we are now, hated worldwide

i want a man in office who is grown up
who is adult enough
to admit when he is wrong
and not drag us all and billions or our dollars into a war
without also making sure that the war was a LAST RESORT

we have a liar in office folks
and we have an ego driven
immature
little imp of a man
with nothing to say for himself
a puppet at times
a child at times
and a tyrant at times

I want an adult in the white house

Wizard of Bush

i must say ive been fully enjoying the lively and highly educational barrage of comments on my last post and do invite more more more
regardless of your political leanings
bring it on

what i was thinking about today
is this feeling ive been getting
feeling many of you have had too
that in today's America
to speak out against this president
means to be attacked as anti-american

sometimes i feel like im living in a sick version of the wizard of oz
where behind the curtain of the great and powerful bush
stands dick cheney, haliburton's entire board of directors, george bush senior
and probably a few cardinals talking into a microphone

sometimes it doesnt even feel like there is a president in office but rather a trained monkey
ooking his way thru the orders whispered in his ear piece

then sometimes it feels the opposite
like george dubya bush is in charge
more in charge then any president should be
using more and more spin doctors and fear factors
to squeeze a dictator size chunk of power under his belt
and then acting without thinking things through
acting on emotion, on ego, on fear, on anger (on penis shortage?)
but not on collected, adult thought

i want the calm man in the debate
the well spoken man
the intelligent man
the one who answered questions
the one who took notes
who thought deeply
i want kerry
i dont want the flinching
shrugging
man
who still
WHO STILL
says NUCULAR
i want a president of the united states who speaks english for crying out loud!

and i want one
who cares about how many people he kills
who cares

Friday, October 1

FOLKSY BABY

well honeys i'm guessing you probably saw the debate?!
well if you did, you'd have to either be drunk or full on hard-headed to not know John Kerry won that hook line and sinkaaaaa

but you know it was actually a frightening experience for me
because even though I was watching Kerry answer in a truly thought out intelligent. well done way
and even though i was watching the baby bush answer like a 16 year old spoiled brat
if i heard him say "wrong war, wrong time" one more time, i think i would have crawled thru the television and bit his nose off
i still knew that probably damn near half of this country was either too stubborn to aknowledge how severely Kerry had aced the debate
or too red-necky to see anything other then how darn "Folksy" that little GW is..
"FOLKSY?"
yeah ask him why he lied, why he rushed to war, why he isolated us from the world, from the UN, and he'll answer
well..uh..you know...we had to kill those evil doers...
and my opponent is bad for troop moral cause he keeps saying
"wrong war, wrong time"
and i just pray and pray and pray
OH LORDY KEEP ME BEING SO CUTE AND COWBOYISH!

what a folksy little fellow!

forget it honeys
listen if you were going to vote for the baby bush
can you just open your eyes and look at the man
on a live debate
he cant even answer a straight question
for crying out loud
don't confuse FOLKSY
with IDIOT
they are two different things
and IDIOT
might just get us all killed

by the way does anyone know when GW got that Texas accent?
was it growing up in New Haven
was it at YALE?
this question...from my good pal Gus.
