it was like the old nyc today
a huge cop frenzy
with guns drawn
right in front of where i work
we all had to go hide behind the wall in case any bullets started flying
i was like

this is the part of old NYC
i dont miss
and watching the jodie foster movie

which i loved
reminded me a whole lotta
what it was like living in nyc
in 1981

but what i do miss
is the plaza hotel
little italy being a whole hood
not one block

little eukrania
and little poland

jews on the lower east side

the great kosher restaurants

the bowery being the bowery
not a fancy condo- hotel blvd

i miss checker cabs
i miss subway tokens

i miss punk rockers in the east village
who really were punk rockers
not trust fund babies with pink hair

i miss the meat market
being a place that sold meat
and housed a slew of leather bars

i miss
it all

dont miss carrying mase though
or playing
hop over the heroin needle down 1st avenue
