ive taken a break from world events of late
to focus on my own life
as you may have noticed
and some new agers will say fixing your own peace is the first and best step
to helping world peace
in my own exploration here is the jest of what rings true to me
there really is something to positive thinking
and whether or not you believe that it affects the outcome
of what you are obsessing about
it certainly affects you and the way you feel
which in turn affects everyone around you
i do think that finding a peace inside yourself
is the first and best step towards the world finding peace
certainly if all the angry violent people in the world
all the people with an ax to grind could find inner peace
they wouldn't want to blow each other up
when i was in Israel I was deeply affected by how close the temple mount was to the wailing will
two great holy sites
for two religions
separated only by a wall
two people with so many things in common
and yet the blood flows and flows
and generations are born into hatred
and terrorists lead the way
if only inner peace could be given to everyone on both sides of the wall
people could think clearly for the first time
and find a path to peace
listen i haven't turned into some new age yahoo
i know that the gandhi approach won't work here
and far too much death has happened
for inner peace to descend
but maybe with so many people
dreaming of peace
and so many people wanting an end to death
that a little push
of goodness in the universe
well
it couldn't hurt
i think of myself
the rossi of old
wanted to go out there with a machine gun
and 86 Hammas
and Hezbollah
now
now i just want the good people who have not had the strength and courage
to stand against them
to do so
and for the world to stop scapegoating israel
and to just help
some how
after the holocaust
one would have thought that the world was done scape-goating jews
but mankind it appears has learned little
i still stand proudly on the side of israel
israel is a true democracy
that only really wants to be left alone
but i also stand on the side of the innocent palestinians
who do not want to be led by hammas
but who can not speak out against them out of fear
or ignorance
mostly i stand on the side of peace
i can't do much to stop terror in the world
but i can stop terror in myself
and share myself with others and hope to start a wave
im not naiive
but i am trying to fix just my little spec of the universe
and to hope my little spec fixes a few around me
and they in turn also do so
ya never know
