thanks to the great internet gods
and i believe maureen my landladys daughter who just blew into town
but suddenly voila
wireless internet is again working at my beach pad
hurray
i was tired of plunking down 4dollars and 46 cents for a green tea smoothie
although they are fantastic (isnt that a great word) everytime i wanted to check email
anyway
i spend yesterday in full scale fever
not sick
but art sick
i walked into a provincetown art auction at 1:45 in the afternoon
and stepped out blinking AND POOR
at 7:45
6 hours of art auction fever
but honeys
i bought a
Pat De Groot
a William Littlefield
and an Ada Raynor
google them all darlings
so i plan on giving one as a gift to my beloved Miha-la
who saved my ass by taking care of the business
while i was away
and the other two shall go in my archives
to hold and cherish
and then
or course re-sell
one day when they are worth mega bucks
ya know
its too much for my nerves or brain to try and understand the art world as a whole
so l decided to do what many folks do
and just take on
the art of provincetown
because in this little town is such a rich glorious
cultural past
thats it more then enough for a life-time
i joined the provincetown art association museum a few years back
and have been showing my work in their members show ever since
and feeling like im a part of a generations old institution that has celebrated the creative spirit of this little slice of land that is rich with painters
writers
and more
friday night is my favorite night here
as its a town wonder
art opening disney land
yep you just walk from one end of town to the other
well mostly in the east end
sipping wine and eating cheese at art opening after art opening
as a starving baby rossi --ok well i was in my 20's
i'd just to do this as a free way to eat, drink and be merry
when i was counting my pennies
now im doing fine
and do this as a way to celebrate the art
and mingle with great creative folks
i got to go to the members open show at PAAM
and celebrate my own painting GHOST 3
which they hung interestingly at crotch level
then it was off to the Albert Merola gallery to celebrate
Richard Baker who's work I have adored for a decade or more
google him he is worth it
the lovely artist Erna Partoll was my companion for this visual exploration
and it was quite a night
I will have the pleasure or shall i say honor of
showing Ernas work in my own little gallery this fall
along with some other heavy weights
Jonathan Blum
Todd Holoubeck
and T.C. Marks
all are worth a google dears
anyway
im an arty mama in ptown right now
and the drunken frat boys seem to have vamoosed
im trying not to freak about israel
although i am worried for my family over there
my brother has called and says they are fine
i am more worried for israel
and for the growing momentum of what feels
like a world war
with moslem fundamentalists on one end and everyone else on the other
and even while i type this
artists are out there painting their heart out
on this subject regardless of which side they are on
this is how its always been
