had a long chat with a pal of mine about the new pope
she was upset because as a woman of german decent
she felt that the pope was taking a lot of crap for being german
and making a mistake at age 16
and that at age 16 it wasn't exactly easy to stand up against the nazis
in germany and him being a nazi youth or whatever the hell he was
shouldn't be held against him
well i guess my feeling on this is
that the catholic church does not have a great history when it comes to how they did NOT help the jews against the nazis
and how they apologized oh what was it 50 years too late?
so picking a pope with a lil itty bit of a nazi past
isn't exactly a wise decision
my other feeling is
you know if you're gonna call someone the pope
and make him the religious leader of catholics around the world
then
shouldn't he be
the kind of guy who
in fact.. could stand up against the nazis?!
even at age 16
or well at the very least
not join them?
cause isn't the pope supposed to be like
um
special..
i dunno but it seems like a sore point rubbed raw to me
if you feel otherwise
educate me
