Wednesday, February 18 Gay Marriage Blues
Tons of queer sisters and brothers took part in a huge ass wedding march to City Hall in San Francisco...hundreds of couples got hitched..many bottles of bubbly were opened around town..and quite a few ex-lovers lamented the one that got away..alas But Hearings, are, as usual coming on up... with both sides gearing up for a fight. 2,340 same-sex couples have taken their vows at City Hall since Newsom told the county clerk to start issuing ''gender-neutral'' marriage licenses. The anti-human, homophobic, super idiot, yahoos... are trying to block these weddings. They say, Newsom was in violation of the law. Newsom who I now love and want to marry, sites the equal protection clause of the California Constitution. ... and the fight is on. You know I just watched another Matthew Shepard movie the other night. I still can't get the image out of my mind of beautiful, young Matthew tied to that post, left beaten, left to die alone in the cold. Millions of people around the world understand how horrible Matthew's death was and how horrible gay bashing is and how horrible racism is and how horrible anti-Semitism is..but why are so many millions of those millions of people not standing up, outraged about how horrible it is to deny the right of a huge chunk of this population to marry?! We are all created equal. So cut the shit.
